Defense played lights out! It's amazing to me because this defense should have around 3-4 shutouts by now. Every game they've been scored on it hasn't been their fault. The only TD the STARTERS have given up was a TD right before the half to Washington. It's also amazing to me how awesome we are playing on defense but yet we're still dropping all these INT's and not taking advantage of the other teams turnovers! GREAT GAME DEFENSE GO BUCKS!

The Defense played very well. The guy who stood out to me the most tonight was Freeman. He played the best game I have ever seen him play. Last year he was spotty in his first year of starting and now he has become a very good starter. The improvement in pass protection alone is about 100% better and he flows to the ball carrier much much better. He was ESPN's and MY defensive player of the game.

...and #3 in pass efficiency defense.

Also
Ohio State is #1 in yards per pass attempt defense and #2 in yards per rush defense. Oregon State leads the nation in yards per rush defense, but the best rushing offense they've faced was Cincinnati at #34. Two of the other OSU's next three opponents are Cal and USC.

and Ohio State is #1 in yards per play defense, but you probably already figured that out.

The second best defense in the Big 10 is Penn State.
Ohio State played the far-and-away best offense in the Big 10.
Penn State played the far-and-away worst offense in the Big 10.

Ohio State maintained their lead in every defensive statistical category.

And the Buckeyes' lead over Penn State in yards per game is HUGE!!! It's around 25% lower than the second place defense in the Big 10.

If my DVR didn't cut off in the last couple minutes of the game like I fear it did, I'll rewatch Purdue's final drive and see who we had on defense...I thought we had the majority of the starters on the field to preserve the shutout.

I'm all but certain Ohio State did indeed have it's 1s out there... At least a good chunk of them.

Rolle and Spitler and Grant were in as LB's. The rest were just about all first string.
The whole first string was in on the TD play.
I probably should add that they were extremely pissed as they left the field.

The only thing good about that final 15 seconds is that it keeps the defense hungry for a shutout. I love their attitude every week (always wanting to improve; never good enough).

Had different LB's in the game and 1 or 2 different linemen. Not sure about the secondary... I'll check the DVR later today.
