WVU back in the top 5? Give me a break!

Agreed.

Oh well, hope they are the team we play should we be fortunate enough to make the NC game again.

USF, BC, WVU...I'll take any of them and be happy.

OBTW, how the fuck does USC stay the same/move up? Struggled with Washington, lost to Stanford at home, struggled with Arizona at home. We'd be out of the top 25 for that.

The poll listed as the AP poll on the previous page seems incorrect. USF is #2 in the AP poll - I've checked 3 sources that all show this.

Perfect illustration that how the polls work is bullshit. Cal beat Oregon--at Oregon--just last week and has the same record as Oregon, and yet they're ranked below Oregon simply because they lost yesterday and Oregon didn't. Now, you may argue that Cal losing at home to Oregon State is wrose than Oregon losing at home to Cal, but common sense dictates that when you have the same record and same relative schedule, you go head-to-head to determine who's better, not on timing of the losses and where they're ranked at the time.

Amen!

Being a disrespected #1 is good. Let the talking heads bash the Bucks all day long while holding the top spot in the polls. It's excellent motivation.

Depending on the criteria one uses, any number of teams could be #1 right now. In my opinion, we lost the NC game last year because Florida had one loss and we thought we were unbeatable. That whole parade around the Heisman was a real distraction. We were not ready to play.

There will be a lot of talk about bumping other teams above us. The quality of each win will count.

I don't care where we are ranked and I accept the arguments about our schedule this year, just as I have made it about competitive teams in other years.

But, let us not be confused about one thing, the balance of our schedule are not cupcakes and our toughest game will be the last one. TSUN can still ruin our year and take a BCS bowl and they will be living for that game. Our guys need to get much better on both sides of the ball before we will truly have a chance of winning a NC game.

And that is the beauty of the talking heads like Mark May. Let them talk because our team will realize just how much they have left to prove.

Make it through these games unscathed and we will deserve to play for the National Championship. And then, win or lose, we will return one of our most powerful teams ever next year.

It is a great time to be a Buckeye.:osu::oh:

When people like Wetzel write whiny little crap like that, I just have to laugh. The BCS is not about determining better conferences, better schedules, or any other such nonsense. It's about getting the two most worthy candidates into the last game of the year. I would say it has succeeded every single year since its inception. I was glad to see the voters push Florida into the game last year. They deserved it. The system is fine....oh, yeah, and there's still about 7 weeks left in the season.:shake:

One thing I think makes it so hard to figure who belongs where is who beat who. Teams are losing to teams they should not and that only confuses the whole situation. Unless a voter actually watches every game they don't really know and I wouldn't put it past some to just say " aw fudge it' and fill in some blanks. It might straighten it self out in the coming weeks as the winners stay winners and he losers remain losers.

How so? Cal, USC and LSU all ahead of us. Are there two games between those three teams that guarantee a win-out season means we're no less than #2? That is news to me, but possible I guess. I know about Cal-USC but when does LSU play one of them?

EDIT: Even if LSU did play one of them, that wouldn't matter either.

As I stated earlier, we control our own destiny

I'd say that it's not an inconceivable scenario that OSU could lose The Game and still go to the national championship game. The SEC and Big 12 have to play a championship game, USC definitely has another loss in them somewhere (Cal, Oregon, ASU) and Cal might too.

If UM runs the table, they'll end up top-15 and the voters won't look too harshly on a loss at the Big House to a top-15 Michigan team.

Unfortunatly, because of the loss to App State, a tOSU loss to UM (even if they are a top 15 team on the road) will be looked upon very harshly.
Besides, if UM runs the table then they are in the Rose bowl which leaves zero chance that the Big Ten runner up is playing in the NC game.
