2007 Preseason and Regular season Polls

I would just have to say that 18 is just a lil' low...

I all for it,this is a chance to show America how good OSU really is. This team looks like the 2002 team with maybe an even stronger defense than 2002's team. Remember,2002's team was supposed to be a year away from doing what they did. We have great special teams, a good running game and good reliable recievers to help the development of our QB. By the end of the season people are going to be talking about us being one of the top teams in the nation and with our future recruiting classes coming in,its only going to get better

Those are pretty strong words you're flinging around, there. I don't know that I'll ever see a defense stronger than the 2002 defense.

I'm standing by it, we are stacked to the ceiling with talent,in 02 our D-Line had Scott,Smith,Peterson,Frazier,Anderson, and Thompson. We have a D-Line that is almost 3 deep, the linebackers were Wilhelm,Grant,Reynolds,Hawk and Carpenter. You have to admit, our Linebacker situation is lovely, you can pick and choose pretty much any flavor you want. Besides Freeman, Little Animal and Grant, there is a boatload of talented LB's who could be starters on any team in the Big 10 even some of our third team LBs can be starters. Now our defensive backs aren't as established at 02's but they are just as talented

I'll admit that the Buckeyes' defense should be beautiful. Very few weaknesses - especially up front. But I still think that the '02 defense will be the best I've ever seen. (I was born after 1973.)

Actually, I think this is the area where I'm not as worried now as I was at this moment in '02. We had Doss and Nickey returning in '02, and I thought that the pair had a chance to be the best safety duo in the country. But at cornerback, I was extremely worried. Cie Grant didn't impress me the year before, but at least he was supposed to come back. But then they moved him to linebacker. That left Dustin Fox, a converted safety, to move into one of the cornerback spots. The other was taken by Richard McNutt, who seemed to always be hurt. In his place was a freshman - was that EJ Underwood? I can't remember for sure. Anyway, I was surprised to see Fox play as well as he did, and with Gamble moving over to defense, the secondary turned out to be much stronger than I thought it would be.

I'm more optimistic about the 2007 secondary than I was about the 2002 secondary. I just don't think the defense will be quite as strong in the front 4 as they were in 2002 - but I think it will be one of the best defenses in the country.

Technically this isn't a "poll" as the thread subject would lead you to believe, it is just a (biased) sports article written by one man. :roll2:

Just fuel to get tOSU fans riled up in the off season really. But the article is way off base. I wont be concerned until the actual polls come out and have us ranked #18, which I doubt, but that would be a shitty place to start out. I don't think anyone is realistically expecting us to win out this season, but lets just say we do. Ranked that low, it would be much harder to climb through the polls to get a shot a #1. I see us more realistically starting out as a 10-15, though you could make a convincing argument for top 10.

If we are top 10 I'd be surprised.. the Media is just crazy over the loses we have on offense. No one seems to know that we return more than most think. It'd be a smart move to put us in the top 10 considering we will most likely start off 8-0

It's great to see ND unranked in the Top 10. Then I looked at their schedule. If they get to USC (at home) with only one loss (very doable in my mind) They have a shoo in to one of two major bowls.

Sept. 1 GEORGIA TECH
Sept. 8 at Penn State
Sept. 15 at Michigan
Sept. 22 MICHIGAN STATE
Sept. 29 at Purdue
Oct. 6 at UCLA
Oct. 13 BOSTON COLLEGE
Oct. 20 USC
Nov. 3 NAVY
Nov. 10 AIR FORCE
Nov. 17 DUKE
Nov. 24 at Stanford

After USC it's all cake and after OSU captures both the Big 10 and the MAC there'll be screaming about cupcake schedules against both schools.
you're crazy :p. losses are bolded:

They could very well be a four loss team when they leave Los Angeles the second time, maybe worse.
