I also noticed that we seem to be loading up on 5'10 inch DBs. They better be burners and hammers 'cause the receivers are getting bigger and faster everywhere.

And no notable o linemen? I thought that would be a major need this year and next.

Torrence 6'1". Clifford 6'2". Oliver 6'0". Evege 5'11". Rocco 6'0". (Last year: 6'0", 6'0", 5'11", 5'11", 6'1").

The one DB out of 6 that is 5'10", James Scott, is incredibly physical.

The linebacker out of FL, Brian Rolle, is 5-10/210lbs. Seems kind of small for a linebacker if you ask me. He getting moved to safety or something?

Read back through the Brian Rolle thread and you will get the answer to that question...he is a pure linebacker.

We obviously have some folks who don't really follow recruiting too closely until the day after NLOID. That is a smart idea.

I saw the Rolle thread....just didn't feel like going through 20+ pages to find my answer when I could just ask really quick. Thanks!!!

Next time don't expect an answer...we ask that you use the search function. You can even search within the Rolle thread itself to help find your answer faster.

What cracks me up about how some people (including "experts") evaluate a recruiting class has little to do with team needs. I think tOSU staff did a bang up job on filling needs this year. The biggest weakness of last year's team was DB, and they pulled a great DB class. I've seen evaluations say that this class wasn't ranked that high because it had more defensive players. The average player rating of this class was top 5 in the nation and the class has a good mixture of guys who are going to fit well together and with the team. Compare that to USC. Some say wow they got 3 top RBs. What the hell are they going to do with all those guys??

I have a question. Those SEC teams that sign these huge classes, knowing that some guys won't make grades, some guys will drop or transfer, etc. Won't this catch up with them eventually? Will this not factor into the grad rates down the road and possibly lead to losing scholarships with the new rules?

Overall, we did an excellent job with this class. We missed some guys who would have been the cherry on the cake, but the foundation of this class is pretty solid, and we landed a guy that I think has the "it" factor in Brandon Saine. Recent NCs have demonstrated that in addition to have a solid team overall, teams also need a guy on the team who has "it". This year it was Percy Harvin. Last year it was Vince Young. Before that you had Reggie Bush. We had Clarett in 2002. So the trend has been that you need a solid defense and a great offensive player to win a national championship. Hopefully Chris Wells will be that guy for us on offense to complement what will be a very good defense.

Next year, we have to get some offensive tackles and defensive tackles.
