2007 Heisman Trophy Discussion

SI's Menez updates his list.

si.menez

01. McFadden
02. Tebow
03. Brohm
04. Brennan
05. White
06. Rice
07. Slaton
08. Matt Ryan (BC QB)
09. Sam Bradford (Okla QB)
10. Mike Hart

also - Chase Daniel (Mo. QB), PJ Hill, Andre Woodson

Arkansas fans, you can calm down now. Darren McFadden is No. 1 on the list again after that gutty performance Saturday night. His stay at No. 4 was brief and he was only there because others on the list outplayed him in the first two weeks. But the 'Backs' back is back on top. Though he should be looking over his shoulder at one hard-charging Florida Gator.

Cont'd ...

Can't be said enough.

So, eh hem

Fuck Tim Tebow.

Or Tim Te-bitch, as I like to call him.
Yeah, but he has to be the leader right now. Maybe Tennessee is worse than people thought and Tebow isn't that great, but as of now he has to be the frontrunner.

I dont know, Mike Hart is compensating for no passing game and a terrible defense in leading his team to 2 wins. Michigan's record will hurt them, but not even McFadden is doing as much to single-handedly carry his team as Mike Hart is. I think he should be higher than Rice and Harvin at the very least.

I agree Hart is doing a lot, but just because he is carrying a poor team does not mean he is more deserving that a qb with a more well rounded team. Im on my phone so I cant look up stats, but what Tebow has done so far is crazy. And I dont even like the guy, in fact I thought he was going to be a problem for the Gators this year. But, Tebow will have to prove himself against tougher SEC competition.

Bumping the thread for this thought.

During the W. Va. / USF game (or if you prefer from an 'Eer perspective, SFU) they played that wonderful 4 Heisman candidate commercial that the Big East ponied up big bucks to make.

What a waste of money! It featured Slaton, White, Brohm and Rice.

Even before the Friday game Brohm's candidacy for the Heisman had fallen into the crapper. By the time the witching hour came and went that of Slaton and White was seriously devalued, along with the 'Eers season prospects. Then came Saturday, and the last of the Big Easy's pretenders to the Heisman also saw his team take it on the chin as Rutgers fell foul to their aversion at being ranked in the top 10.

So, 4 Big Easy candidates are effectively off the table.

Who is left that is a real contender at this point? Are there new entrants previously not identified by our diligent sports writers in the media that are worthy of consideration?

Last thought, if that commercial is played ever again during this season it will, at least, provide unintended amusement. So, I guess the Big Easy's money wasn't completely wasted.

If I were voting (the 3-2-1 actual voting manner), my ballot would look like this:

1. Mike Hart 3 points
2. Matt Ryan 2 points
3. Andre Woodson 1 point

Man, if anyone doubted the east coast media bias one would have only to look at the predominance of Big Least players on the Heisman lists of so many pundits. Big Least is proving once again to be a pretender as a strength conference.
