2007 Heisman Trophy Discussion

Mike Hart's wheels are beginning to lose their tread. In his last two games he's gone 74-259, a whopping 3.5 per carry plus he seemed to be favoring his shoulder at points in the 2nd half last week. Carr is literally running him right out of a pro career. Not that I blame him. They'd be 1-4 without him. They'd still have beat N_tre _ame.

I would advise Glenn Dorsey to have a very strong game against Florida this week. If he sacks Tebow a few times -- the way this year is going for all the offensive guys -- he'll make a statement for a pure defensive player to garner serious Heisman pub.

Your case that they lost is a pathetic argument. Half of the guys on the list above have lost a game or more.

Is it only limited to players on undefeated teams?

Right or wrong it has been a long standing criteria that the Heisman usually goes to a QB/RB on the best, or one of the best, teams.

Every once in a while the pool will be so thin it goes to a system guy putting up gaudy numbers on a shit team(then the Bengals will draft him but thst another point :wink2:)

Right now the pool is very, very thin. You can make a stronger case against each guy than for him it seems.

He hasn't even played in the last 2 games has he?

Brennan missed a game, then threw 5 interceptions against Idaho. He only threw 1 TD before getting hurt yesterday. He's no longer a viable candidate.

Honestly i hate to admit this but I think Hart has a legit chance still...I know his team is struggling but he has been playing some very good football lately...

I understand that his yards are up because he is getting 35-45 carries every week but even so...hes getting it done when his team needs him to...and face it scum doesnt have much else on their team...

This year's race is still a blur. Plenty of guys still have a shot to reach out and grab the Heisman if they can put their teams on their shoulders and carry them into a BCS bowl game... Matt Ryan, Chase Daniel, Mike Hart come to mind off the top of my head. Ryan and Daniel would be getting more pub if they didn't play for Mizzou and BC.

if Glenn Dorsey is getting a small amount of talk, which he has, I think lil' animal should start getting the same air time

This d is better than LSU's and Laurinitis is the best defensive player we have

If we run our schedule and remain the #1 rated defense in the country, I'd be shocked if his name doesn't start popping up

You are spot on about Chase Daniel and Matt Ryan. Both are having great seasons and receive little pub at playing for schools without any long standing history.

Ryan is getting more than Daniel though, with Flutie in the studio for a nationally televised analysis show.

The thing is, Glenn Dorsey is head and shoulders above everyone else on his team. Not so with Laurinaitis. This year, I would say he isn't even that much better than Freeman. And we all know about Gholston and Jenkins... Sometimes I think Gholston is the best player we have, he just gets held so much that it's hard to see sometimes.
Nonetheless if our defense keeps dominating the way they are- and I see no reason why they shouldn't- hopefully his name will pop up. And, seeing how every other candidate has at least a few ridiculous flaws, hopefully people will latch on to that idea and he can get some good votes.

I think either Dennis Dixon or Desean Jackson has a shot if their team beats USC and wins the Pac-10. Chase Daniel is in contention if Mizzou wins 10 games including a signature win. Tebow isn't out of it either with a potential rematch with LSU in the SEC CG. McFadden and Hart probably should be the top 2 candidates but they've been handicapped by the record of their teams.
