2007 Heisman Trophy Discussion

Teebow is probably the most overrated QB in the history of College football. When it comes to playing big games, LSU, Auburn and Georgia, he folds like a lawn chair. McFadden is the REAL deal. Our backup QB has more talent.

I don't know what game you watched, but Tebow almost beat us single handedly.

I didn't want Tebow to win, and I really didn't like the guy leading up to the Heisman presentation.

But I actually did gain a lot of respect for Tebow after hearing him speak. He actually did sound sincere during his speech, and not as cocky as I thought he actually might have been. He seemed really grateful and humbled, so atleast now I don't have to hate the guy for being an asshole.

But I actually did gain a lot of respect for Tebow after hearing him speak. I mean i've heard some interviews where he seemed pretty humble, but a lot of that is really set up, but he actually did sound sincere during his speech. He seemed really grateful and humbled, so atleast now I don't have to hate the guy for being an asshole.

I've seen more than enough of Tebow this year and what you saw Saturday night was the real deal. He's a class kid and a hell of a QB to boot.

They interviewed him about June Jones comments about him, and he was a complete cocky arrogant prick. And everyone in Gatorland hailed him as the most humble human being to ever grace God's green earth. So I have a hard time believing some of the stuff that he said last night. If its legit and he is actually that religious and humble, then good for him. But after hearing him in previous interviews, I doubt most of it.

He was, however, the second most deserving Heisman candidate, and seeing as how the most deserving candidate didn't get any recognition, then I am ok with him winning it.

You will never convince me that Kevin Smith wasn't the most outstanding player in college football this year.

Uh-huh. What? He didn't agree with June that he was an undeserving hack so he is a "cocky prick?" :slappy: He said that Brennan was a good quarterback, and added "...in a good system" - which was just a funny dig. Help us out and post a link to the interview where Tim is "a complete cocky arrogant prick" - or does the mere sight of Tim talking get you to that result no matter what he says?

Yes of course, your right. I cringe with hate every time I hear Tebow speak. Which would have been all of 2 times now. And he was completely different in the two interviews.

As I said, I really truly hope that he is that humble and religious, and that the Heisman interviews were the real Tebow. I have the utmost respect for superior athletes who are able to remain levelheaded and down-to-earth despite the attention and recognition they get, regardless of what team they play for. And if you think I hold some kind of grudge against Tebow because he plays for the team that beat us last January, which is understandable on your part, your wrong.

I dont expect Tebow to agree with June Jones, and I am probably overblowing the first interview a little bit. But it would have been SO much classier if he had said something like, "Colt Brennan is a great quarterback who is very deserving of the Heisman trophy," and just left it at that, instead of taking a shot at Brennan. He should have let June Jones be the bad guy. Instead, with what he says, he comes off as a classless jock. I guess I'm forgetting that Tressel-speak probably isn't very popular among Gators.

As I said, I really hope that he is actually the person they portrayed and he portrayed himself as on TV. But considering my first encounter with Tim Tebow opening his mouth (insert *pun* here :wink2:), it made it hard to believe.

I agree. He's also the best QB in the country. That's how rated he is. the media, especially CBS, plays him up so much that they can turn the best player in college into the most Overrated QB ever.

I honestly don't see his interview as displaying the character traits you see, but then, I am far from neutral. He's my guy, and I have to disagree when he's called an arrogant cocky prick for responding to a classless attack on his talent with what I see as a mild joke.

Without looking, I'm gonna go with my proven terrible memory and venture up this guess, wasn't Tebow a missionary to the Phillipines at some point? Can you even fake that? Ha....The kid deserves the award!
