2007 Heisman Trophy Discussion

Chris Wells and Clemson's C.J. Spiller (regular season numbers: 936 yards rushing, 7.4 avg, 10 TD's; 210 yards receiving, 11.1 avg, 2 TD's; 6 plays of 50+ yards) are two sophs who should make some noise in the Heisman race.

I think Slaton's a legit top 5 candidate. I'm not sure why you think Pat White belongs in the top 10--he's not a good enough passer to win it, so he must put up fantastic running numbers to win, which he won't do b/c of Slaton.

So 1219 rushing yards (7.4 avg) with 18 TDs, as a sophomore, isn't fantastic?

He still had a passing accuracy of 66% last year, which is pretty solid for a heavilly running QB. 13 td - 7 int is ok, but his 159.7 passer rating is pretty good for a developing sophomore IMO.

I'm not saying Pat White will win it, but I seriously think he is going to make some noise, and potentially get invited to NYC.

You need your college football fix. Believe me, I get it. I'm ready to suit up and cover a kickoff myself. So for those of you who can't get enough pigskin in the spring, here's an absurdly early look at the top Heisman Trophy contenders for 2007.

Heisman watch list member Brennan has harsh words for the Rainbows AD and their football facilities.
SI.com
HONOLULU (AP) -- Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan is criticizing school administrators for not sufficiently funding and backing the upgrade of aging and substandard athletic facilities.
From the crusty locker room and the ancient carpet in the coaches' offices to the lack of soap in the showers, Brennan gave several examples of what needed to be improved.
"There's a good chance we could be a Top 25 preseason ranked football team and we can't even get soap in our locker room," he said Friday. "We're going against programs that have $20 million facilities with support and tradition. And you want us to compete with that? Just help us out."
He said all the Hawaii sports are entitled to so much more, but "it's getting the school to cough up money."
His concerns were first published in The Honolulu Advertiser.

Now think about this; With our new QB it would not surprise me to see Beanie get 1,800 yards this year.

Booty probably has the best shot based on the supporting cast.

Losing his top 2 receivers has to hurt at least a little.

you've been sniffing again haven't you Oregon?

I'm trying to go a little under the radar(tho not much considering the amount of pub he's gotten). He had a great freshman year. I'm sure he'll improve quite a bit plus he's added about 15 pounds of muscle and has a very good supporting cast. The Big-12 isn't a very tough league either, IMO.
