2006 Heisman Discussion (merged all)

I suspect working to Troy's favor is the fact that Vince Young got snubbed last year. Personally, I thought Young was the hands down superior college player. It sure begins to look bad if the voters snub top black quarterbacks two years in a row for arguably inferior white QBs. I'm not saying that's why Troy will win it. He flat-out deserves it, period. I'm just saying it may help him hold off the media hype pulling for Brady Quinn

I could have sworn last year's "snub" came at the hands of Reggie Bush......

I agree with the fact that Reggie Bush was the best all around player last season. He could make a lot of people look completely stupid....

I can't wait to see what kind of a landslide this Heisman race will be!

It may not be . ESPN today was extolling the virtues of Quinn over Troy in a direct matchup of stats. The more they say things the more people believe. It is almost like they aren't just talking heads but more like Bishops , Of course they didn't say anything about who lost to tsun and who beat tsun

ESPN is just stirring up "drama" for their Heisman show. McFadden is a super player. I really hadn't watched an Arkansas game this year, and he is a heckuva player. He's got to be the front-runner. For 2007, that is.

They want to TRY and make things interesting... It's Troy's as of now, but Quinn's to gain, he'll have to have 350-400 yards and a win over USC. But my vote is still for Troy Smith! :osu:

You are right about them. They are in the business to make money and so they strive for playing opposite points of view in order to eant their "keep".
Unfortunately the people who have a real vote can be swayed. I don't really think they will be, or at least many, but that is what they do..
IMO Troy as it all but locked up no matter who wins, USC or ND

Brady Quinn has better stats than Troy Smith, but Brady Quinn has only played one good team this year. Unless Quinn goes out against SC and throws for 900yds and 14 tds there is no way he is winning the Heisman. Even he did do that, he shouldn't win anyway seeing as anyone can have ONE good game.

I don't have the time or effort to do the math right now, but if Troy had as many pass attempts as Quinn has (will have especially w/one more game), he'd be looking at over 40 TD passes instead of 30. Troy's TD/ATT ratio is out of control. Quinn is good, but he choked in the big game & Troy is THEE big game player of this league. Game over, Troy's trophy.

No he doesn't. Smith's QB rating is way higher and he has more than 200 yards rushing than Quinn.

I meant a majority of his "stats" are better. But as I said he doesn't play nearly as tough of as a schedule and, as Cornerback said, he also is going to play 1 more than game. Smith should win the Heisman hands down. They should not even bother inviting anyone else to NYC.
