Hoosiers fans fashioning salute to new head coach

Monday, February 12, 2007

Indiana's Assembly Hall is one of the two Big Ten arenas that the Ohio State men's basketball team doesn't visit this season, which will keep the Buckeyes from getting a first-hand look at 400 Kelvin Sampsons. Thanks to the odd Big Ten schedule, which matched up the Hoosiers and Buckeyes in the conference opener on Jan. 2 for their only meeting of the season, Ohio State is completely missing what's happening in Bloomington.
They like their new coach there. They really like him.

I really think that the stregth of the conference is right in the middle and they are all beating up on each other. I think that we will get 6 teams in as a conference, just not sure who the other 3 will be...

I think we'll only get 5 in this year, and frankle, any of those bubble teams you listed could do it. The two that will make it will only lose 2 more games the rest of the season counting one of those losses being in the Big Ten tournament. Also, give an extra edge to whoever can make it to Saturday of the tournament as well.

Well, I remember he had one of the biggest turnarounds in NCAA history but he did more than drive the program into mediocrity. He gave it a horrible reputation which Matta is turning around. We could've lost Oden, Conley, and Cook along with the rest of the "Thad 5" because of O'Brien.
i think you need a history lesson. the way obie left the program was much better than he found it. before obie i couldnt give my tickets away. imaging paying for something you couldnt give away... thats how bad it was.

Illini still looking for big win

Bubble team might need a signature victory to get into the tourney, but the schedule offers few opportunities.

The University of Illinois probably has the easiest Big Ten men's basketball schedule. For coach Bruce Weber, that's not necessarily good.
The Illini (18-9, 6-6 Big Ten) played No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Wisconsin just once apiece ? both Illinois home losses. The schedule rotation may have eliminated two more losses. Or, one huge victory.

Bo still feels awkward at Minnesota, but Badgers do well

TODD RICHMOND

MADISON, Wis. - After all his trips to Minneapolis' Williams Arena, Bo Ryan still doesn't feel comfortable prowling its elevated court.
Wisconsin's head coach says he finds himself stalking the sidelines as his players sit on the bench below.
"It does feel a little awkward, especially when you're looking for a place to hide," Ryan quipped Monday.
But Wisconsin hasn't had to do much hiding lately at the Golden Gophers' home.
Wisconsin has beaten Minnesota three out of the teams' last four meetings in Minneapolis. The Badgers will be looking for one more when the two squads face each other Wednesday.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - As if a nine-game losing streak wasn't bad enough - Penn State is about to embark on a three-game stretch that could make this season even more miserable.
Here's how the schedule shakes out: home Wednesday versus No. 2 Ohio State; a visit Saturday to No. 3 Wisconsin; and a trip to Columbus, Ohio, for another game Feb. 21 against the Buckeyes and freshman phenom Greg Oden.
No team has played three consecutive games against top-three ranked teams in at least 10 years, according to research by STATS, Inc. conducted for Penn State.

The biggest problem PSU faces is, when you're the worst team in the league you are playing a superior team pretty much every game. Duh.
