2005-2006 Latest Men's Basketball Rankings (Currently #6)

Now that Memphis lost, if OSU wins out they should be worthy of a #1 seed. But OSU still has to prove they are more worthy then Gonzaga and Pitt, which are still ahead of us in the polls. GW is also ahead of us, but we obviously are better and would get the #1 seed before them. I think the final #1 seed will be between OSU and Gonzaga. Either way, those 2 teams will be in the same bracket, one as the #1(lowest) and the other as the #2(highest).

If we win out and Pitt/Gonzaga wins out there is no way they are a better seed as niether team has a schedule as tough as ours. Gonzaga's best victory was over Mich State at (15 RPI) followed by St Josephs (46 RPI). If Gonzaga loses a game before the tourney they will be no better than a 3.

So, does this mean you no longer see Gonzaga as a numero uno?
the whole time we were discussing that....i was thinking memphis instead of zaga. memphis is the 1, zaga is the 2 that i thought was ahead of OSU....just still a 2 seed.

jay bilas was just on cowherd saying memphis' loss won't effect their 1 seed, but the team to watch for is OSU

I don't agree. Memphis' loss probably just caused them to be on the border of 1/2, not drop that far down. Their RPI is still 5th. I think Memphis has a better resume than Gonzaga. I think it looks likely that Memphis and Ohio State will be in the same bracket, with one as the lowest 1 seed and the other as the highest 2 seed.

I agree. Hopefully we can win out. Memphis also beat Gonzaga 83 - 72 in December.

All these teams in front of us losing makes me wonder. I dont think gonzaga and memphis are in need of a number one seed. This considering there smaller and less powerful conferences. This leaves duke, conn, villinova and ?. The buckeye in me would love to see that number one seed go to us but, since the buckeyes havent been this good in basketball since maybe 90-91 do you think they will be able to get the number one seed.
yeah we really sucked for about a four year span from 99-02 two big ten titles a final four and some decent seeding....

Thats all great to be a #1 seed, but i like to be under the radar. having people not even think about us as a big threat is a good thing in my mind.

Yes i would love to have a #1 seed in the tourney, but it is really not that important, at least i dont think.

Woody is on that show, and any other show for that matter, as comic relief. Nobody takes anything he says seriously.

Everytime he's on a show debating something you can tell the other guys are trying to keep from laughing at how stupid he sounds. If you go to espn.com and go to Cold Pizza's site it gives a little summary on the people on the show and it actually says Woody is a well respected sports journalist. :slappy:

both teams are choking it away with bad FT shooting (and some bad jumpers)
... but both teams are going hard.

23.7 - char 83, gw 82 (char shooting two... GW had two stars foul out on the last two fouls)

unbelievable. GW just missed a jumper, GW rebounded, and was fouled... with 5 seconds left (possibly the end of the game).

However, a GW player off the ball took a couple cheapshots b/c the guy on him was getting yanked by the jersey.

Instead GW gets FTs from the technical... still not sure how they are going to call this thing. Either way, this player may have just cost his team the win on the road
