2005-2006 Latest Men's Basketball Rankings (Currently #6)

unbelievable. Instead of two FTs to ice the game, Charlotte shoots two FTs, then GT shoots two FTs, and keeps the ball due to the technical.

The Charlotte missed the second FT.

85-82... and GW gets to pick their FT shooter... and get the ball afterwards.

The local J'ville paper projected OSU as a #1 seed today and Memphis as a #2.

Doesn't really mean anything but shows that OSU as a 1 seed isn't just homer talk amongst the OSU faithful.

The interesting thing will be the fact the committee must decide BEFORE we actually play the B10 title game(if we get that far) due to its late tip off.

So in reality our road to a possible #1 is Purdue and 2 BTT games.

Simply amazing to me. I thought we'd be a bubble team at best.

Can't believe that GW game. Charolette did everything in thier power to piss that game away.

I still don't get why there wasnt a doulbe technical called. I understand teh guy threw the elbow, but the guy from GW clearly gets a cheap shot to the guys head while he is holding onto his jersey.

Does anyone know if the announcer is a GW fan b/c he was sure pulling for them down the stretch more than Dickie V pulls for Dook to win.

He was trying to say the guy should of been tossed from the game, and he never once acknowledged the fact that the GW guy was holding onto his jersey and the time when he got him in the head.

both announcers blatantly ignored the jersey pull. Here's how it happened:

GW player yanks on Char jersey, Char throws an elbow, GW yanks him backwards even harder, Char throws another elbow.

The annoucer of course is blind to the GW guy yanking him backwards both times.

Granted, the GW player did yank on his jersey...but you have to have more sense than to start throwing blatant elbows at the opposition when you have possession and the game all but locked up. That Goldwire kid must feel like shit right now.

The announcers tried to say it was physical play.

Did you see on the second yank when he pulled him back and the Charolette guy got his elbow into the head and the Charolette guy was bringing his elbow back.

I think it a situation like that you give the double T.

One ?, that I still can't figure out, did they let the guy that was fouled b4 that altercation shoot the foul shots. Then they shot the T. If this is true which I believe it is, the guy from GW got nothing for yanking the Charolette guy and fighting him back.

I was watching that game live also. Another factor was that the refs used the TV relpays before they decided to call the technical. Unfortunately, the TV cameras at first were only showing the replays from the angles under the basket, not from midcourt. After the refs looked at the replay and made the call, the replays from midcourt were shown, which showed the jersey pulling much more clearly. If the refs had seen an angle from midcourt, it's possible they would have called a double-foul or a double-technical.

The other factor with the technical, besides giving GW two free throws to get to within one after Charlotte split their 2 shots, was that they got the ball at midcourt after the technical, instead of having to advance the whole length of the floor. That allowed the time for the putback, which only happened because the shot was an airball.

It sucked that the GW guy yanking the jersey allowed GW to win the game because the Charlotte player overreacted to it.

Gonzaga has a recent history of playing well in the tournament and will thus be rewarded with a 2-3 seed this year.
um... since their run to the Elite 8 in '99, Gonzaga has only reached the Sweet 16 one time. in 5 tries. they do not have a history of playing well. they have the benefit a media driven hype machine that pimps them like nobody's business, but that fact remains that they are more style than substance.

freaking Marquette and Xavier have as much recent success in the Tournament as Gonzaga. the only difference is that they just don't have SportsCenter and that Dooksucker Dick Vitale slobbering all over them...

I stand corrected, but I still consider Gonzaga legit. Their division sucks, but they have proven to be a good team in the past.

The one thing I love about the tourney is the fact that all conferences get at least a chance for their champ to play for it all.

Thats all great to be a #1 seed, but i like to be under the radar. having people not even think about us as a big threat is a good thing in my mind.

Yes i would love to have a #1 seed in the tourney, but it is really not that important, at least i dont think.
yes because being a 2 seed is under the radar....
