2002 NC Team vs. 2014 NC Team

In all seriousness though, this team was more dominant in the second half of the season, this team has more talent on offense and less on defense...but the 2002 team was undefeated and beat what I would call superior opposition for the title, so my heart will always be with '02 the most.

2002 was the decided underdog - nobody, but nobody gave them a chance at winning. 2014 was seen as having the potential to beat Alabama - imo the real championship game - IF Cardale could play anywhere near the level he demonstrated v Wisconsin. He could.

IMO 2002 won despite a gap in talent. 2014 won because they had the talent no worse than even v Alabama and obviously better than Oregon.

Clarett would have ran all over this Oregon D!

2002 would have killed this Oregon Team

So just because they squeaked by 34-0 Miami....doesnt mean this current team is better because they beat oregon by 22....

when i hear comparisons...i just think of what clarett would do to that run D

42 of 43 ESPN "analysts" (emphasis on "anal") picked Alabama. We were 9+ points dogs from the outset. The outcry against us was not as vocal this year as it was in 2002, but we were just about as much of an underdog against Alabama as we were Duh U...

I pretty much agree, but the talent gap between Duh U and our 2002 squad wasn't as great as many thought. Our 2014 squad is equal with Alabama and far superior than Oregon talent-wise...
