The Scarlet Knights have just missed the cut for
Southern Regional (Manahawkin, N.J.) receiver
Mike Gesicki. The 6-6, 240-pound pass-catcher took official visits to both Ohio State and Penn State over the past few weekends, and it appears the experiences at both institutions have made them Gesicki's top two potential collegiate destinations.
"Penn State was unbelievable," Gesicki said. "The atmosphere, all the people. It wasn't just the game that got me. It was meeting the players and talking to people on the team. That's what I took away from this weekend."
Did this past weekend's visit to Penn State for their White Out game against Michigan propel the Nittany Lions forward in their pursuit for the top national tight end?
"I would say I went in there with my opinion of Penn State and it definitely didn't hurt them," Gesicki said. "It didn't make my decision for me or anything like that, but it definitely didn't hurt. I really did enjoy myself this past weekend."
Gesicki shared similar sentiments for the Ohio State Buckeyes, a program he took an official visit to three weeks ago.
"I took my official there when they played Wisconsin and it was just as good as Penn State," he said. "Both visits were phenomenal. I was treated very well at both places. I met a lot of great people. I sat down with Urban Meyer, watched film with him and learned how he wants to use me... things like that. And the atmosphere down at the shoe is unbelievable just like it is at Beaver Stadium.
"Both places were phenomenal and I really enjoyed myself. Both places have great people and it will be a tough decision between the two."
