'12 IL OL Jordan Diamond (Auburn Signee)

Can't see Diamond coming here now. I thought he would be here at one time and thought he might commit before Christmas but the back and forth seems to have cooled on both sides, imo.

Good player but, Meyer seems to be getting everything he wants at the moment.

Probably a two-horse race between OSU and Scum. I think if Urban can land Dodson and Diamond, he would not deny either. We need bodies on the o-line, and Diamond would be a great guard prospect. Decker at LT and Dodson at RT, with O'Connor and Diamond filling in at Guard, and Boren at C if he doesn't end up on defense. To go along with Elflein, that would be an amazing finish on the o-line. Even if we only take one of Diamond or Dodson, that would still be a great haul. Here's hoping Urban can land him in the coming weeks.

Rivals - Good vibes from commits

1/22

UA offensive line commit Cordale Boyd got a good vibe from both Green-Beckham and four-star offensive line recruit Jordan Diamond.

"I got a very strong and positive vibe about the whole campus itself, and they really liked it," Boyd said. "Especially Jordan, he said he really liked it. And DGB, he liked it too. We have a good chance of nabbing both of them I would think. I hope they come on and Call the Hogs."

Diamond is considering several schools. During the Arkansas-Michigan basketball game, UA offensive line commit Jeremy Ward got the impression that those two schools also lead for Diamond's services.

"Jordan, I think we got real close," Ward said. "He's a real big family guy. He likes to have a lot of camaraderie. I kept telling him that's what Arkansas' all about. I don't think he really got what I was saying until he came here. I think he was really blown away. Eat at the Catfish Hole but nothing like that. That pep rally, I think he really, really enjoyed himself, and I think he'll be a Hog honestly.

"We were leaving the basketball game, and he was like 'I'm going to have take your hat,' because I was wearing an Arkansas hat, and I said 'why is that?' And he said because I'm going to have to put it on the table."

Ward also got a good impression for highly recruited linebacker Dalton Santos, who is currently committed to Tennessee with a visit slated to Ohio State next weekend.

"Dalton Santos. We talked a good bit. He'll probably end up committing. He loved it. He had a blast," Ward said.

Arkansas (good shot): Diamond's head coach at Simeon went to Arkansas. His teammate and the quarterback he blocked for, Robert Gregory, is an Arkansas commit. Diamond's parents were impressed by the campus and coaches during a visit.

Ohio State (good shot): There is no question that having former Florida head coach Urban Meyer show up in Columbus could be a difference maker. Ohio State was one of Diamond's visits in December, and said he was impressed by the new coaching staff's energy.

Michigan (good shot): Second-year head coach Brady Hoke has the Wolverines headed in the right direction. They may be a national contender before the Buckeyes are. What works strongly in Michigan's favor is its educational pedigree and the nickname, Wolverines. Simeon?s mascot is also the Wolverine.

Wisconsin (fair possibility): If Diamond decides the Big Ten is the place he wants to play, Wisconsin is just up the road from Chicago and is a program known for showcasing its linemen.

Auburn (long shot): Would Diamond actually pass up playing with his high school teammate Arkansas and instead go to a Southeastern Conference rival?

Final take: Diamond wants to play. Throughout the recruiting process, his hope to play virtually immediately and getting a good education have been high priorities. So if a team is loaded with offensive linemen, don't look for Diamond to go there. He is the ultimate team guy, which would make him a great fit for Hoke at Michigan and Meyer at Ohio State.

Does this kid know how tough it is to play "virtually immediately" in both the SEC and the Big 10?
There are a lot of high profile recruits who think they will start day 1 in college. Some do...most don't. They are use to dominating and think it will continue forever without realizing how much the game changes in college...not to mention then the NFL.

Considering he won't be here until the summer I would say the chance to start right away would be very slim.....unless he's the second coming of Orlando Pace

Which we all know he's not.

I think our depth chart has to be as appealing as any big time program in the country...and in spite of that, I don't see this kid walking in and starting. Now, two deep half way through the season...if the kid really IS special, then that could happen.
