Report: Anthony Davis Has Decided
By Adam Zagoria on August 03, 2010
Anthony Davis is pulling a LeBron James.
He?s made his decision but won?t let the public know for a couple of weeks.
?Yes, it?s the LeBron wait and see time,? Anthony Davis Sr. said Tuesday night by text.
The 6-foot-10 Davis out of Chicago Perspectives Charter has likely chosen from among Kentucky, Ohio State and Syracuse. DePaul appears to be a long shot.
He visited Kentucky Sunday and DePaul Monday.
?Both were great,? Davis Sr. said via text Monday night. ?Still waiting 2 visit Ohio State and Syracuse.?
He has already visited Ohio State but not Syracuse. Now it appears Davis won?t take any further visits.
One head coach in the mix said he didn?t know where Davis would land.
It remains unclear if DePaul is under consideration, but Blue Demons coach Oliver Purnell watched Davis during the Peach Jam.
Davis said at that event that his final three were Kentucky, Syracuse and Ohio State.
?Each team has players go to the league,? Davis said at the Peach Jam. ?Wesley Johnson from Syracuse, Evan Turner from Ohio State and John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe [from Kentucky], all of them went to the league. It?s just a great program, so that?s why I want to go to the NBA.?
Davis considered North Carolina but eventually ruled that out.
I don't know of many guys who verbal to a school that they'd never visited so saying that it looks like it's down to the good guys and the horses. He has already visited Ohio State but not Syracuse. Now it appears Davis won?t take any further visits.
Anthony Davis, the 6-10 rising senior at Perspectives-Calumet who catapulted himself to national prominence this summer, has made his college choice.
He just isn't telling anyone what it is yet. According to his father, Anthony Davis Sr., the younger Davis made his decision on Monday but the family is still discussing the best way to announce it.
"Anthony knows where he wants to go, but we just aren't sure how to let everyone else know at this point," Davis Sr. said. "He's mentioned wanting to do it on television before. We'll be talking it over."
According to a reliable source, Davis will choose Kentucky. The Kentucky-based blog ?Nation of Blue? has reported that two unnamed sources are also claiming Davis has chosen Kentucky.
Davis Sr. responded via text when asked Monday if Kentucky would be his son's choice: ?Tell them 2 have fun guessing.?
Davis visited Kentucky on Sunday and DePaul on Monday. Both visits went well. Davis took a class trip to Ohio State last year. He hasn't visited Syracuse yet, which is the other school on his list.
Rumors that Davis? commitment is for sale have surfaced since he cut his list of schools down about a month ago.
?There is all kinds of speculation and innuendo out there in the recruiting world regarding his recruitment and if it is going to turn seedy,? recruiting analyst Joe Henricksen said. ?But that?s often the route that this story takes when you see a player emerge like this. Who knows what?s true and what?s not.?
The rumors/sources that have Davis choosing Kentucky are also alleging that the commitment cost $200,000. Davis Sr. has flat out denied everything.
?We haven?t asked anyone for anything and no one has offered us anything,? Davis Sr. said on Thursday at a club basketball event in Merrillville, Ind.
"It's a little unfair for a kid to have to listen to those type of rumors if they aren't true," Henricksen said. cont...

Anthony Davis is a promising 6-foot-10 high school basketball star in Chicago (class of 2011) who has whittled his choices down to Kentucky, DePaul, Ohio State and Syracuse. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Davis has picked Kentucky. Then, in what could only be described as a bizarre twist, the paper added that, ?The rumors/sources that have Davis choosing Kentucky are also alleging that the commitment cost $200,000. Davis Sr. has flat out denied everything.? Way to bury the news nine paragraphs in. We added a screen grab because we thought the paper would remove the paragraph. It has done so. Too late. The Kentucky fans are not happy at the allegation. The NCAA will no doubt be looking into this one.
