'11 IL C/PF Anthony Davis (Kentucky Signee)

This article makes me think he will be a buckeye.

2011 Trio Listing Memphis | Memphis Roar

Anthony Davis, a 6?9, 190-pound forward out of Perspectives Charter (IL), has been the spring?s biggest stock booster, and it isn?t even close. Davis entered the spring as an unknown and leaves it as arguably a top 10 recruit. He averaged 11.7 points per game, good for 10th overall, at NBPA Camp, helping lead his team to the championship game and garnering Most Outstanding Prospect honors.

Davis lists offers from Syracuse, Ohio State, Kansas, Kansas State, Memphis, and Louisville as well as interest from Duke and North Carolina. Asked when he plans to make his choice, Davis replied, ?At the end of July.?

?I like Ohio State a lot,? said Davis of who his favorite is. Why is that? ?I went down to the visit [and the] campus was wonderful. [OSU has a] great campus and great facilities. It was wonderful.?

As for what he is looking for in a school, David remarked, ?I?d like to have my major, sport management, a great environment, a lot of one on one [coaching] with the players. Are the players separated from the rest of the school to not get distracted? [Also the] background, history, and the coach.?

Davis, who wants to be a three at the next level, has not been to Memphis for a visit, but would like to make the trip.

?It?s a great program. I talk to Josh Pastner a lot. They tell me how good it is,? said Davis of what he likes about Memphis. ?Derrick Rose, I knew him for a minute because he was going out with my cousin. I?ll see how it is when I get down there.?

Anthony Davis has been the star of the spring.

The 6-foot-10, 220-pound power forward from Chicago Perspectives Charter School has gone from a virtually unknown player on the AAU scene to a top-10 prospect in a matter of two months.

"It's been a great experience with a lot of colleges calling me," Davis said. "It's been kind of overwhelming but it's been a lot of fun. They call and I will call them back and talk to them.

"I just want to take my time and keep playing my game."

Davis said he's listing Ohio State, Louisville, Syracuse, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina and Indiana. He said the complete list is at 15 and he wants to narrow it down to five sometime soon.

While he's looking at all three local schools, Davis confirmed that "Louisville was in my top five before, now I just have to see with all of the new schools." He said a visit to Louisville could happen as soon as this week.

"Coach Rick Pitino's record is great," Davis said. "He's been a great coach for a long time and one of my best friends since seventh-grade, Wayne Blackshear, has committed there and he wants me to come down there with him. It would be a great experience.

"I know they have a new facility and I am excited to see it."

Davis said Blackshear has "really been pushing me towards coming down there. It would be great and I hope it works out. We'll see when I go down there."

Anthony Davis Bursting Onto National Scene
Posted on Jun 28, 2010

Anthony Davis is ranked as the No. 2 power forward in the Class of 2011, yet hardly anyone knew who he was before this spring.

After growing seven inches in a year, Davis is now 6 feet, 9 inches and 187 pounds.

“He went through a major, major growth spurt,” said Anthony Davis Sr. “He’s eating us out of house and home, for sure. He just won’t gain the weight.”

Davis burst onto the national scene this past spring and was named Most Promising Prospect at the recent NBA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va.

“It’s a great award,” Davis said by phone from the Kevin Durant Skills Academy in Chicago. He will also soon play at the LeBron James Academy in Akron, Ohio.

“It feels good knowing that they say that I”m really working hard.”

Anthony Davis Cuts List to 3
Posted on Jun 28, 2010

Not long after speaking Monday morning with Anthony Davis Jr. and Sr., I called the father back to clarify something.

He ended up breaking the news that his son, a 6-foot-9, 187-pound forward from Chicago Perspectives Charter School, had actually cut his list to three schools.

?We?re looking at Syracuse, Kentucky and Ohio State,? Anthony Sr. said. ?I think those three schools fit perfectly in the style of basketball he plays.?

Davis Sr. said his son, the No. 2 power forward in the nation according to Rivals, planned to announce his college choice sometime in ?mid-July.?

?Yep, right around then we?ll be letting everybody know where he?s going,? Anthony Sr. said.

He said his son wants to major in sports management and said two of the three schools had strong programs, but he wasn?t certain which ones.

?I know two of the schools have his major and I don?t know off hand which two it was,? he said.

Scout.com: Nike Skills Recap (free)

Interesting to see Anthony Davis and Mike Shaw participate in the Kevin Durant Academy. Both of them will likely end up in the post in college because of their ability to change the game in the paint - Davis as a shot blocker and Shaw as a rebounder - but the Chicago duo also has the skill to play on the wing. They weren't as polished as some of the other wings in ball-handling drills, but the work they put in here will go a long way towards a professional future....

Davis thinks he'd be an SF in the NBA, therefore he's going to say he should play the 3 in college, even though with his size there's no doubt he'd be more of a 4 or 5 in college almost regardless of where he goes.

I don't quite understand the below because I think he would either play the 4 or 5 position in college.
Davis, who wants to be a three at the next level...
davis is on the tail end of a huge growth spurt, which his weight has yet to catch up to. he still sees himself as a small forward/shooting guard. once his weight matches his height and once he realizes that power forwards and centers are more prized (by the nba) than wings, i'm sure he'll embrace his new position.

This kid can stroke it though. He could be a 3 if he wanted...

But he would play 4 here. We spread it out so on offense it doesn't matter. On defense he would definitely be guarding the post. Great shot blocker..

Davis to Visit Kentucky, ?Cuse Before Deciding
Posted on Jul 5, 2010

Anthony Davis will visit Kentucky and Syracuse later this summer before making his college choice.

As first reported by ZAGSBLOG last month, Davis?s final three remains Kentucky, Syracuse and Ohio State but he has only seen Ohio State.

?We?re still working on the top three,? Anthony Davis Sr. said Monday by phone. ?He wants to go see Syracuse and Kentucky.?

Davis, a 6-foot-9, 187-pound forward from Chicago Perspectives Charter School, is currently at the LeBron James Skills Academy in Akron.

Anthony Sr. initially said his son might decide by ?mid-July? but that has now been pushed back.

?We?re going to sit down when he comes back from the LeBron Camp and see what dates I can take off from work,? Anthony Sr. said. ?We?ll go in August.?

He added: ?He was trying to [decide in July] but it?s a little more than he thought. He?s doing a little research on them and we?ll try to have a decision if not July, then in August.?

In his top 3: no school from his home state, we're the closest school to his home, no Louisville or MSU, and he's actively talked to Sam Thompson about the possibility of both playing together at OSU.

The only thing that gives me any doubt about this recruitment is Calipari.
