Do everything right.

Three simple words that make a monumental statement.

Monsignor Pace defensive back Jabari Gorman has lived by those words his entire high school career.

In 2008, Gorman did everything right and that earned him a starting position on the Spartans varsity football team and a spot on Pace's Class 4A state championship basketball team.

Now, the 6-0, 180-pound senior knows that he will not only need to do everything right, but he will need to do everything better if Pace is to stay afloat in District 8-2B.

Gorman, rated the No. 10 defensive back prospect in the nation by Rivals.com, is driven to return Pace to the postseason. Last season, the Spartans did not make the playoffs. In 2008, they lost to Cocoa in the Class 3A state semifinals on a last-second field goal.

``The school that I choose isn't going to be about me liking the team or the campus or stuff like that,'' Gorman said. ``I want to pick the school that's going to help me develop as a defensive back and offer me the best chance to succeed at a high level.''

Gorman, who is interested in science, is also doing right in the classroom, maintaining a 3.8 grade point average.

I doubt this has ANYTHING to do with his decision. He's stated that he intends to make a decision after his official visits which pretty much rules out your theory.

Just because he says that means nothing, he can also make his decision on NSD as well. So my theory still holds. But whatever, I would LOVE to be wrong and land this kid, and I like the fact that he still has us in the hunt, but I just feel we won't lure him out of FL. And that's just my opinion. It'd be great though to have a CB class with Gambrell, Grant and Gorman! But IMO we land 2 of 3, which still ain't bad at all

ESPNU safety rescheduling visit to Ohio State

ESPNU 150 safety Jabari Gorman (Miami/ Monsignor Pace) was a no show in Columbus last weekend. The four-star defensive back was scheduled to make an official visit to Ohio State, but had to cancel because he had a game. Gorman hopes to go this weekend or next.

The 6-0, 180-pound back has three favorites at this time -- the Buckeyes, Miami and Alabama.

"I actually watched the game [on Saturday between Miami and Ohio State] and I thought it was a great game. I mean, it was exciting even though I wasn't there," Gorman said. I was a little surprised at how it unfolded and the mistakes Miami made. Ohio State definitely took advantage."

He will officially visit Alabama when it hosts Florida next month (Oct. 2). He may schedule a visit to Miami when the Hurricanes play North Carolina (Oct. 23) at home.

"Those are my three favorite schools, but I am starting to like North Carolina," Gorman said. "They are coming on, and I may visit up there."

Pace is 2-0 on the season, and Gorman has 30 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles. He returned an interception 98 yards for a score last week. Pace has a bye this week.

He couldn't come for a worse game based on the opponent/atmosphere, but I suppose it was one of the few that fit in his schedule. I hope he comes back for michigan to see the shoe in all its glory.

He'll get a lot of personal attention, and he'll be able to see young guys getting playing time. Should be back for the scUM game to seal the deal.
