'11 FL DB Jabari Gorman (Florida Signee)

BN$--Gorman Discusses His Top Three

Jabari says his favorites in order are Ohio State, Alabama, and Miami but that order is just a current feeling and subject to change.
Gotta love that top 3 being in order. I think the visit during the Bucks-Canes weekend ought to seal the deal if he doesn't commit before then. He'd be a great asset; he seems versatile enough to play both Safety spots and possibly CB (in a pinch) and I think the staff could use him in creative ways in the secondary, probably more so than any of the other DBs in the 2011 class.

Would they use him as creatively as they used Flash Thomas? Just saying, I don't see the staff using a kid at various positions, once a kid finds one, he stays there.
And this kid won't have a leader for a while, if there's one its probably Miami, he's looking for an excuse not to go there, IMO. If Miami has a 7-8 win season and we're in the NC then that's a different story. But if Miami wins the ACC or come close, it will be VERY difficult to pull this kid from So FLA. Just my opinion that he's leaning on staying home

Something that has no relevance to his suggestion about using a DB at multiple spots in the secondary.

Like Jenkins? Everett? Hines? Russell? But alas, they never moved Fox to safety :sad2:

Scout $ - Gorman Names Leader, But It's Close

8/18

By The Bank....Talks about his goals for the upcoming season. Once again states that Ohio State, Miami & Alabama are his final three and he will be taking officials to those schools. Says Ohio State is his leader, but it's a close race between all three schools. Will be making a decision after his officials and will not be playing the hat game, out of respect to the schools.

If Doran Grant hadn't already publicly explained that the quality of the local food scene will be a determinative factor in his recruitment, Gorman's disdain for the "hat game" would have catapulted him to the top of my 2011 board. Currently he sits at #2.

I don't fault 17/18 year old kids who get caught up in the excitement of being pursued so intensely by top schools and all the associated fan blogs and do the "hat game", but I am certainly impressed by young men like Jabari who see beyond that and have a healthy perspective on the grand scheme of things.

This, besides his obvious talent, definitely makes me hope we land him. Matching his values and quotes with what we know of Coach Tressel, we at least know the tOSU is being given a fully legitimate shot to land this guy. Best of luck regardless of where he lands. Sounds like we should know sometime in October/November.

I doubt this has ANYTHING to do with his decision. He's stated that he intends to make a decision after his official visits which pretty much rules out your theory.
