'11 FL DB Jabari Gorman (Florida Signee)

Well given how quickly we've been filling up, I think this basically brings his recruitment to an end. I can't imagine we'll have room left come January.

Do we have a great track record with recruits who announce late? Not exactly. Do we have a great track record with recruits announcing at all-star games? No. But when you're in the top 3 of a Florida recruit who ranks you ahead of the likes of UF and LSU, you've gotta feel pretty good about the chances.

This kid will be a tough get from Miami. Hope we can land, but I don't think that a big win over Miami on Sept 11 will mean much to him. PT has a lot to do with it from what it seems

We will have 2 seniors starting at corner, he would have as good a chance for PT here as Miami...

Canes have competition for S
2011 S Jabari Gorman

Four-star S Jabari Gorman of Miami would seem to be a lock for the hometown Hurricanes, but perhaps like fellow four-star Miami S Robenson Therezie, whom we told you about earlier on Thursday, Gorman could be a little put off by the Canes' depth chart at the position.

Gorman tells ESPN Recruiting's Justin Hopkins that he is down to three finalists: Miami, Alabama and Ohio State. He plans to take officials to Columbus (for the Sept. 11 Miami game, natch) and Tuscaloosa (for the Oct. 2 Florida game) before making the decision. Like Therezie, he can head to Coral Gables whenever he wants.

Gorman said he wants an opportunity to play as a freshman, and he wants to play for top-notch coaches. He's covered on that last count: Both Miami and Ohio State have sent plenty of DBs to the NFL in the last decade, while Alabama coach Nick Saban made his bones as a secondary coach.

Jabari Gorman evaluation

"Very active around the football and covers a lot of ground showing great range and direct angles to the ball. This guy is one of the better hitters in this safety class and plays the position with a fast and physical type of mentality. Displays great anticipation skills as a high-point safety allowing him to make great breaks on the pass aided by excellent explosiveness and closing burst. Has a quick first-step and great plant and drive burst. Separates a lot of balls from receivers with his high- impact collisions. Limits yard after the catch. An intimidating presence over the middle making receivers think twice about threatening his underneath zone. Good overall run supporter who gets downhill quickly and drives through ball carriers with textbook tackles, despite being a bit high on contact. Speed is good and appears more straight-lined."

Out of his final 3 schools, aren't we the only team that could provide him with some early PT at CB? I thought Bama has got the top DBs in the past 2-3 classes and Miami is pretty young at the position as well.

Scout $ - Gorman To Decide After Visits

7/23

By The Bank....Down to Alabama, Miami & Ohio State and will make his decision after his official visits (Ohio State on 9/11, Alabama on 10/2, Miami TBD). Has stayed in constant contact with all three coaching staffs and specifically talks about a conversation with Coach Haynes today. Says that distance will not play a factor and he's looking for the program that can help him become a better man.

Another positive update for the good guys.....
