Perhaps it's appropriate, considering WVU coach Bill Stewart's faith, that this weekend the Mountaineers will host a Christian.

Cullen Christian, a four-star cornerback, will be in Morgantown on an official visit around the Connecticut game.

Christian is a highly sought defensive back from Penn Hills High in Pittsburgh who has offers from Ohio State, Michigan, UCLA, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Cincinnati, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Purdue, Rutgers and Syracuse.

According to the player's coach, Ron Graham, Christian has already made an official visit to UCLA. This weekend will be his second "official.''

"He's an excellent cornerback," Graham said Thursday. "And he's a leader on and off the field. He brings leadership to a team, and he has big-play ability."

Penn Hills is having a disappointing season with a 3-4 record, but Christian is leading the Indians in interceptions. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound player also plays wide receiver.

"He has excellent hands and is very quick," Graham said. "He runs excellent patterns. He's just a well-rounded athlete.''

WVU's coaches have their work cut out for them. In addition to the UCLA visit, Christian has made an unofficial visit to Ohio State. Pitt, of course, is all over the player. Then there's this:

"He talks a lot about Michigan," Graham said. "He's been there more than once.''

The coach said Tony Gibson, Rich Rodriguez's right-hand man both at WVU and, now, Michigan, is spearheading the Wolverines' effort.

Christian has been rated the No. 3 cornerback nationwide by Scout.com and No. 6 by Rivals.com.

"He told me he'd make a decision after the [high school] season, in November," Graham said. "A lot of schools are coming after him with strong interest."

Graham said Christian "transformed'' into an elite prospect by growing into his tall frame. He already had the speed, which he showed off at Nike camps.

Also, the potential lock-down corner is strong. It's been written he can squat 315 pounds 20 times.

Christian thought he had recruiting figured out but he's more confused after his WV visit. He seemed impressed with the Mountaineer program. He'll use all 5 visits and has his remaining 3 scheduled: Pitt on Nov. 7, Ohio State on Nov. 14, and Michigan on Nov. 21.

Cullen Christian - Cornerback
Penn Hills H.S. (PA)
Visited: West Virginia
Recruiting: "I'm really confused now. I honestly don't know what I am going to do. I thought I had it all figured out, but I'm not so sure now. (West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart) gave me the rundown on everything at West Virginia. He explained their philosophy and how they do things. He told me how I would fit in there. He told me that there is a lot of opportunity for me there. He talked about coach (Dave) Lockwood and how good he is at what he does."

Defensive back Cullen Christian (Pittsburgh Pa./Penn Hills) took an official visit to UCLA in mid-October and the buzz from his time in Westwood was still prevalent a few weeks later.

"I had a great trip, I really liked it there," Christian said. "Coach [Rick] Neuheisel showed all the recruits a lot of love and I liked him a lot. He had us over at his house for dinner one night and gave us a personal tour of the campus, which you don't see a lot of head coaches doing.

"The game atmosphere was cool too and I like the Pac-10. Everyone was really pumped up and I could tell all the other recruits like Lache Seastrunk (Temple, Texas/Temple) were really feeling the visit and everything about UCLA as well."

Christian added that he likes the direction the Bruins program is headed in.

"I see how hard they work and I think they're on their way to being a good program," Christian said. "They have a real young team and I can definitely see them getting back to prominence. I really liked the guys on the team a lot and I got a good feeling that everyone there is on the same page and striving hard to get better.

"Distance will not be a factor for me at all. UCLA is definitely in the mix for me and I would put them in my top three along with Michigan and West Virginia. I still have three visits to take over the next three weeks and I'm going to Pitt, Ohio State and Michigan. I like UCLA a lot though. I think I would have a great shot to play early there and that's a huge factor for me."

Defensive back Cullen Christian (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) made his second official visit with a trip to West Virginia this past weekend.

"It went real good," Christian said. "It was a real good visit for me. I liked the coaches and the facilities. Everybody seemed like family."

Christian's first official visit was to UCLA on the weekend of Oct. 17.

"Both were good visits," Christian said. "I didn't like one better than the other."

Christian will start a string of three straight official visits with a trip to Pitt the weekend of Nov. 7. He will then visit Ohio State Nov. 14 and Michigan Nov. 21. Christian plans to announce his college choice on Nov. 24.

"West Virginia, Michigan and UCLA are still my top three, but not in any order," Christian said. "Pitt and Ohio State can get up in there. It just depends on how my visits there go."

Scout $ - Suspense Up for Christian?s Decision (Part 1)

Same top 3, same visit plans. He's been following scUM and sees an opportunity if that's where he decides to go. He sees the same opportunity at West Virginia. Either way, I say good luck wearing urine colored pants and losing to your biggest rival year after year.

I wouldn't be so quick to write off Cullen. Rumor has it that his interest in scUM has "waned" recently. Also, if Bank's account earlier today is anything to go by (check Scout$), the Buckeyes may be one of several schools in it. Cullen showed up for the USC game and loved his visit, and he may be there for the Iowa game too! That to me shows a serious level of interest.

If um loses out here, that is a serious slap. They've basically pencilled him into this class and are in serious need of DBs.

With all the rumblings about personnel changes at scUM there is plenty of uncertainty to keep the recruits worried.

There really aren't any rumblings about personnel changes at Michigan.

There are rumblings that Chris Singletary, the recruiting co-ordinator at Michigan is going to get the axe, but that would mean next to nothing to kids like Christian and all of the other recruits that Michigan is going after.
