'10 PA DB Cullen Christian (TTUN signee; transfer to Pitt; transfer to WVU)

Bill Kurelic: Overheard in Happy Valley - ESPN

MVP has new leader
Defensive back Cullen Christian (Pittsburgh/Penn Hills), who was named the defensive backs MVP at the conclusion of camp on Saturday, has seen his scholarship offer total rise to 15. Christian previously had Pitt and Michigan at the top of his list, but that has changed slightly.

"My favorites now are Michigan No. 1 and West Virginia No. 2," Christian said. "Then it's Pitt and Maryland."

Christian has offers from all four schools. He plans to take all five official visits before selecting a college.

Per multiple sources, Christian is scheduled to visit OSU unofficially for the USC game.

We've had him on our guest list for a few days...he was the prospect I mentioned that I was surprised no one had noticed...

Fortt's decision will come in the next few weeks - ESPN

Wolverines lead for Pennsylvania star
Defensive back Cullen Christian (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) attended the Ohio State-USC game on Saturday night as a guest of the Buckeyes. However, Christian may be playing against the Scarlet and Gray in a year or two.

"I'm pretty much open to anyone, but I wasn't really giving Ohio State a hard look because they haven't given me an offer," Christian said. Plenty of others have offered Christian a scholarship. His list stands at close to 20 and includes Michigan, UCLA and West Virginia, which are his top three choices.

"Those are the three I'm mainly looking at," Christian said. "Michigan is my favorite. I grew up a Michigan fan. They show the most interest."

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder, who intercepted two passes during his junior season, said his first official visit will likely be to UCLA, though he does not know the exact date.

Cullen is probably a Plan B recruit for you guys considering that Josh Shaw seems like he's signed, sealed, delivered to you guys.

If Shaw does wind up at USC somehow, do you guys then offer Christian?

I think the main question is whether OSU is a plan B option for CC. It has its advantages (prioritize recruiting, avoid wasted offers/interest) and disadvantages (not pulling off upsets, not throwing hat in ring to see reaction), but OSU often does not waste time on kids they feel are not that interested in them... at least not midwest kids (they do extend more token offers to national recruits, like Jeff Luc).

I actually think it's more of what mh20 said for Cullen at this point. Even if OSU was Cullen's plan A, I don't think he would have an offer until OSU was less confident with Shaw and/or Joyner. If that materializes then I agree what jwins said will become the main question. That's my take at least.

Scout $: Christian's Top Five in Flux

By Sam Webb of the GoBlueWolverine.com site. Talks about his ankle injury and how impressed he was by the atmosphere for the USC game. He's not sure if he'll stick to his October time frame to announce. He is looking to get away from home and even says Pittsburgh isn't being more highly considered because they're so close. Sounds like _ichigan is still his leader but the Bucks would be considered if they offered.

Rivals $

10/2

From the Pitt site...plans to make officials to Michigan, UCLA, Pitt, Ohio State and West Virginia...has Michigan at the top, WVU at #2 and Pitt at #3 but says the OSU offer is too new to rank them and they could still work their way up.
