Announcing right after attending The Game...coincidence? I think not...
November 23rd is his birthday....

When did he decide to announce on his birthday? If it was after OSU got re-involved this last time, Mili may be on to something. Otherwise, I have to think the coincidence part is that his birthday is so close to when we play The Game.

A few years ago Wesley Jefferson was scheduled to be on Bucknuts radio on the day of his announcement. Everyone got excited and assumed that it was a sign that he would choose the Bucks. Turned that he canceled the appearance and verballed to Maryland. If Vlad does make the visit for Michigan, he may very well verbal to the Bucks. Telfort is also visiting.

Post #151 (Page 8, top) says that Vlad has planned to announce on his birthday (11/23) since at least 8/13.

He may have been "planning" on announcing on his birthday for a while, but now that it is solidified that he is and that he firmed that decision after deciding to make a visit for The Game seems to be favorable for us.

That would be the logical conclusion. When Ohio State renewed their recruitment of Emilien, the only weekend open on his calendar before his birthday, where Ohio State was at home, was "The Game". He already had scheduled his Wisconsin visit for 3 weeks ago and Michigan visit last week, when the Bucks were at home.

But the timing could be advantageous, and he could make a rash decision, forgetting that OSU treated him like their fallback option.

Color me [strike]badd[/strike] clueless, but I don't believe you are correct here. I think OSU put too much pressure on Vlad as the first option, and were willing to move on if he said no. Now things have settled, he got his football on, and OSU did too, and the interest has re-sparked on both ends. I don't think fallback option is even remotely close to the truth.

He pretty precisely said the opposite:
I?m very interested. I felt kind of like I was the second choice, but business is business. I would love a chance to go that school. It just didn?t happen the way I wanted to happen, I just have to move on from that.
Generally I don't think you tell a guy "commit now or forever hold your peace" (to paraphrase) if he's your first choice. Wouldn't you be more willing to be patient with your first choice and wait as long as you need to? I think coaches tell that to guys who they like but don't like as much as somebody else, because it means "you're good but not good enough to hold a spot for" whereas the top choice, you'll definitely hold that spot.

Not sure if that's what the staff told him. More like something along the lines of "our class is filing up and we're only taking so many DBs so you might want to hop on board ASAP". Had he commited before Clarke, Green, and McDougald (who all committed in June), he wouldn't have been told "Well, we'll see if we can get other guys to commit, and if not we'll take your commitment". Had they told him that, then that would constitute him being treated as a "fallback" option. But, since they didn't...
