'09 FL S Vladimir Emilien (Michigan Signee - transfer to Toledo)

Generally I don't think you tell a guy "commit now or forever hold your peace" (to paraphrase) if he's your first choice. Wouldn't you be more willing to be patient with your first choice and wait as long as you need to? I think coaches tell that to guys who they like but don't like as much as somebody else, because it means "you're good but not good enough to hold a spot for" whereas the top choice, you'll definitely hold that spot.
And "generally" you aren't filling up a class of 20+ by june, with many big names also interested, forcing you to crunch the numbers. But "generally" didn't apply here, and so they went against their typical approach and asked for verbals from their DB offers.

They said the same thing to McDougald & Brown and they committed. McDougald's tune changed rapidly from someone high on OSU but not looking to decide soon (heading into camp), to a quick verbal after camp.

Don't expect a quick decision from the Central Ohio standout.

If anything, McDougald & Clarke were the "fallback" guys, being offered after Givens decommitted from OSU. Vlad was pursued long before either of those two, he just wasn't ready to hop on the opportunity like them. The OSU staff told him to do what was best for him, and for Vlad, that was to take more time.

UM fans at Rivals say that they have a solid source stating Vlad's going to be Blue... Not sure I buy it, but just an FYI...

ive actually been getting that same vibe from all the articles that i have read but you never know in recruiting. i hope he becomes a Buckeye but i will respect whatever decision he makes. good luck Vlad...

I think if we want Vlad badly enough and show him that on his official, we will get Vlad...

I think youre right. I thik he has wanted to go here all along, but got his feelings a little hurt when we cooled. Things happen, and I hope he understands that. Vlad needs to do whats best for him, and if he feels like he can make it to the NFL at scUM as opposed to tOSU than more power to him............

He would be a great addition, and I hope he does whats right for him, his family, and his career. We would love to have him at DB-U.

It's nice to be last on his visit list. Also, Vlad is coming to The Game. I agree, if we want him badly enough and show him the love,
I think he will be a Buckeye.

Visiting with Berry could be big...remember there was talk in the beginning of Berry/Emilien/McGee all looking at OSU. Two out of three would be nice...and the staff would really like to take another true safety in this class to go along with Wood.

Rivals $

11/2

By Newberg...announcing on 11/23 at his high school...will decide between Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State and Stanford (although this article says the Stanford visit on 11/14 will be his last).

Rivals $

11/3

From the Stanford site...talks about why he is considering Stanford and about his upcoming official...says he will probably not visit OSU.

Whats your gut on this, 45, do you think we're in there, do you think we get him? If not, where do you think he goes?

Apparently he got a good enough feel for OSU when he was here once before...I would say this drastically reduces OSU chances of landing Vlad but we will just have to wait and see.
