Film.

My take: Great size for a kid whose movement is so fluid. Certainly looks the 6-3 218 the film lists him as. Would make a great MLB with that kind of size in the OSU defensive scheme (must the way they anticipated Hoobler being). Hvae to wonder if a move down to DE is possible with that kind of height and frame, although looks like he could stay at LB for now. A very aggressive tackler, doesn't have the quickest first step, but does seem to read things on the fly fairly well. Fills the gaps like a taller version of Bob Sanders...meaning he fills quickly and always attacks low.

Probably a good film for 21 to review...

Agree with most everything...first name that came to mind was Katzenmoyer. It is just shocking to see someone with that frame close like that...and the impact is not as impressive as the Big Kat, but considering Shayne is using half of his body, it is impressive. What I mean is right now Shayne is doing things with mostly upper body strength...he throws a mean flipper but does not show a great base or delivery on the film...however, he rocks the OL and gets downhill fast. I love it...he is a raw, downhill, seek-and-destroy 'backer. Sign him up ASAP.

For those that don't feel like going back through the thread here was our initial film review based on his junior highlights...

Thanks Wad, Hayle seems like the perfect Tressel recruit. A good kid who is not pigeon holed into one spot. If he doesn't outgrow LB then the staff will let him play there, if he does then he still has options with that great athleticism.

You guys do great work (even if you are elitist b^$@%^&s:biggrin:)

I think this past year showed Hale to be a LB. Maybe better coaching at the next level would benefit him at DE. FB is certainly a need next year. If they cannot recruit one i would think Sweat and Rolle could be given a look. Both have played RB. Sweat has the size and Rolle is a collision waiting to happen.

Highly doubt Sweat would be moved to Fullback if Hale comes in... he was the #1 LB on their board this year. We could have Sabino at SAM, Hale at MLB and Sweat and WLB possibly... pretty solid if you ask me, with the speed off the edge of Nate Williams on one side and Keith Wells on the other... WOW. Anyways, before i get ahead of myself, Hale has to come here first and we'll see if we can pull him away from Pitt.

BGriff....Agreed, we need to get him first.

The staff has already spoken to Sweat about FB. It would be a way to get on the field early. With Hale and Gardiner (Greyshirt) we seem to be stockpiling LB's. Maybe a departure early (Laurenaitis) and a transfer is brewing. Or we are switcihing to a 3-4 (unlikely).
