'08 PA LB Shayne Hale (Pitt signee)

Well my BPhero, this is one of those times that I hope you are wrong, dead wrong. But I hope that we're all right about Liuget and Wells...and Harris.

I think Wells might be looking hard at occupying the spot we once thought would be reserved for Shayne...and by all account Wells has been one of the most dominant players at the O/D Bowl...

I still think Shayne's an ILB and that he has been recruited as such in the recent efforts...guessing.

I like Wells' potential a lot more anyways. Shayne is a great player no doubt but I think he is close to filling out his frame and Wells' hasn't even scratched the surface of his potential. Hale will be a good player no doubt...but at Pitt.

So let me get this straight.

We wanted him at DE. He didn't like that. We "cooled" and started looking at other DE's. We are back on his list (although for show because Pitt is where he is going).

Did he finally realize the staff was correct from the start and that he is a DE?

That kind of thing happens alot, just ask Shawn Crable

Today is the first day Hale has played any LB down in San Antonio...up until today he has been playing DE, which is where he likely ends up at in college. On the flipside, ND-verbal Steven Filer was repping at MLB and switched with Hale and has been repping with his hand on the ground today...

Wannstedt reels in another ...

Best of luck to Hale at Pitt.

I found telling the comments of his HS coach, indicating that Ohio State's positional projection is likely spot on. Still, Hale wants to play LB only and that is apparently what Pitt is giving him (for now).

As expected, Hale to announce Pitt today. Good get for us, but I'm sure it isn't much of a loss for tOSU.

I can't speak for anyone else here, but losing a player of Shayne Hale's abilities is never "not much of a loss" IMO. Great get for the Panthers, who I always like to see doing well.

(This is not a sky-is-falling post; simply saying Shayne Hale is clearly a terrific player and the more terrific players you have, the better.)
