'08 PA LB Shayne Hale (Pitt signee)

Pitts Trib
Gateway linebacker Shayne Hale was named to the first-team defense after recording 114 tackles, 25 for a loss, nine sacks, three pass breakups and three forced fumbles for the WPIAL Class AAAA runner-up. He is seriously considering Pitt, but also is looking closely at Ohio State, Florida, Michigan and West Virginia. Pryor also is considering Ohio State, Florida and Michigan, with Penn State and Oregon in the running.

[sarcasm]Not bad for a kid playing out of position and having a down year.[/sarcasm]

I think, from Shayne's perspective, his recruitment should have had more direction. I think this is a good example of a kid without enough good advice from coaches/trusted sources. The whole "package" idea was taken too far, and, IMO, he lost some of the momentum that he had coming off his great summer.

I agree, IMO it seems as though he wasn't getting advice but instead pressure to keep the "package" together. I hope he gets to make the decision that is best for him and his future. Whatever it turns out to be I wish him the best of luck.

Exactly!! Incredible talent. Want this guy in a Buckeye helmet...BAD!! I think that he will prove he's an ILB all the way. Imagine him and Sabino in a 3-4 against RR's spread. Bring it on, baby!!

All-Americans considering Pitt
By Tricia Lafferty
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Thursday, January 3, 2008

"I'm still trying to think of something as of now," Hale said. "I haven't made a decision."

As if the 6-foot-3, 235-pound Hale isn't feeling enough pressure, he'll have Nix chirping in his ear because the two aren't only teammates this week, they are also roommates.

"I've been on him a little bit," Nix said. "Everyone is calling me and telling me to make sure he's going. It's up to him, but of course I'm going to tell him I want him to go there, tell him all about it and tell him how good it is, but I'm not the type of guy to tell him where to go."

Hale is expected to choose Pitt, following his cousin and Gateway running back Cameron Saddler and a wave of WPIAL recruits who committed to Pitt after Saddler's announcement.

I have browsed through this thread but did OSU cool on recruiting him? He keeps saying OSU and Pitt lead, but at this point does he have an offer on the table from OSU still?

I think he has an offer...but at the same time I don't think either side is expecting him in Cbus. JMO.
