08-09 Big Ten Basketball Season

Wisconsin had the luck last year with Brian Butch hitting the banker for the win against Indiana. This year those bounces are going in the opposite direction, like the banker by Johnson of Texas. UW is a little bit lesser caliber of team, but it's mostly been luck in the close Texas and Marquette losses. It's just a one, or two play max difference, and the nation would have a completely different perception of the Badgers. I guess we're going to have to make our mark in conference again.

Illinois over Mizzou, Wiscy playing Tejas tough, and Butler (who has been beaten by the B10) upsetting Xavier. The B10 looks stronger every day. I can't see less than 6 teams going to the dance the way the non-conference schedule has gone. Hope the young Bucks can uphold their end this Saturday against WVU...I'd feel more confident with Lighty - rebounding scares me.

A couple of Texas players stomp on the Wisconsin "W" after the game.

Classy. :roll1:

I agree--a total lack of respect and a bush league move on the part of Texas. I wonder if the Texas bball team got that stunt out of the Wisconsin football team's playbook, seeing as how UW stomped all over our "O" when they won in Columbus in '04.

As for the game, I will likely move UW above PSU in my Big Ten rankings next week--even though I don't think Texas is a top 10 team (I'd say something around #15 or #20 is more appropriate) and the game was in Madison, UW played them pretty tough.

I don't want to give too much credit to Wisky but if you do not think that Texas is a top 10 team I don't want to play the teams that you have ranked above them. Texas is a very good basketball team with a lot of talent. Let's give credit where credit is due even if they did stop on the "W"

Wisconsin takes out ranked Michigan by double figures on the road. See how we can turn it one once the Big Ten season arrives? Bo Ryan managed the game completely differently than his OOC games and resulted in an easy win instead of close losses ala Marquette and Texas. If Ryan doesn't bench players in moderate foul trouble in both, Wisconsin comes away with at least one more signature OOC win, maybe two. Today he left Marcus Landry in the game in spite of picking up his 3rd foul at the start of the 2nd half. With Landry in the ballgame the Badgers were able to extend the lead from about 10 to 18 or so, before he picked up his fourth w/ 10 to play. He held out Hughes and Landry out w/ moderate foul trouble in the Marquette game; Leuer, Landry, and Hughes in the Texas game. I think it's a teaching tool to deter fouling in games he thinks matters more (Big Ten games where they can result in a championship earned), but in those individual games it resulted in substantial swings in the opponent's favor.
