  1. OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

There is no thread for Jalen Shelley (6'8" top 50 SF with good perimeter skills) so I will post this here. He has scheduled a visit for September and the recent Dispatch article indicates that he has a lot of interest in OSU. Has ties to central Ohio (dad played for the Destroyers and has...
  2. 2023-2024 Ohio State Men's Basketball (apathy, depression, hope?)

I don't know that I'd describe Bonner as someone who can shoot the cover off the ball. I don't know what his DII stats were like, but he was 27% from three in 2 years at Baylor. I think he's good enough to keep teams honest, but he's not as good a shooter as Thornton. Not saying we won't ever...
  3. OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Definitely going to be young, but have a little more cohesion with the return of 3 frosh who played a fair amount and Key. The incoming frosh seem hungry and should have a similar impact to last years frosh (really looking forward to seeing this group in action). The addition of Battle adds...
  4. OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Initially it looked like we were prioritizing a PF/C, then a wing. We may only take 1 more in the class and the shift seems to be to take the best player we can get and if we have ships available after the season, then fill holes with a transfer. The only position we are not recruiting is the...
  5. 2023-2024 Ohio State Men's Basketball (apathy, depression, hope?)

We only have 1 returning player that is an upper classman and he probably hasn't been full go yet in workouts, so it makes sense the sophs are doing a lot of the pushing.
  6. 2023-2024 Ohio State Men's Basketball (apathy, depression, hope?)

Katz is close to a Buckeye (and Holtmann) homer, but I don't think #3 in the conference is unreasonable, if the sophs make a typical soph jump and the frosh perform similar to their rnakings. Why do I think #3 is reasonable? - Thornton averaged 14 ppg in his last 13 games. I don't know that...
  7. 2022-2023 College Basketball General Discussion

UNC wasn't that good last year. They got hot at the right time, but they were outside the top 25 most of the season.
  8. 2022-2023 Ohio State Men's Basketball

Yeah, its obviously an outside chance, but we certainly have more talent than our record indicates. We likely get Nebraska our first game, then the second and third rounds are up for grabs. We need some help as I see us having a tough time beating Purdue or Indiana with only Okpara at C.
  9. 2022-2023 Ohio State Men's Basketball

We beat PSU both times we played them the year we lost to ORU. We lost to ORU because our NBA guard shot the ball poorly and the 2 NBA draftees turned it over 8 times. I don't know whether Holtmann has it in him to elevate the program into the top 10, but its not always on the coach.
  10. Ohio State at Rutgers, Jan. 15, 230PM EST, BTN

Yeah, the refs were really bad and no doubt they made enough of a difference to get the game into overtime. I mean the shot clock violation call where the ball hit the rim twice before the clock expired and couldn't get it correct on review. Then there were the phantom foul calls on McNeil...
  11. PG John “Juni” Mobley, Jr. (Official Thread)

Nice showing for Mobley in a tourney that had a lot of good teams (Duncanville and Sierra Canyon in the top 15 and neither won the tourney). Will be interesting to see his development and how his game translates to the B1G. Has the green light to pretty much play like Curry so will be...
  12. Purdue Boilermakers (bball official thread)

Semantics, but #1 "ranked" team in the country. I am not sure they are the best team or should be viewed as the tournament favorite. Vegas has them at 16/1 right now which is 5th best odds to win it all. Eddy has been dominant, but they are very dependent on him. They don't have high end...
  13. SF Brice Sensabaugh (Utah Jazz)

Yeah and I think he showed another aspect the past couple of games. Seven assists against Maine. Started the game strong scoring the ball and was dribbling with his left and was easily in his range for a pull up jumper, but instead fired a perfect one had pass of the dribble to Key in the post...
  14. SF Brice Sensabaugh (Utah Jazz)

Yeah, EJ peaked in mock drafts in the middle of the season. He didn't necessarily play poorly the last half of the year, but his stock did slide. Still most thought he would be a late first rounder. Brice is only 1/3 of the way through the season and how he performs in the B1G is obviously...
  15. SF Brice Sensabaugh (Utah Jazz)

He's been showing up in quite a few mock drafts in the low 20's. Question his defense and what position he can defend, but say his scoring should translate.
  16. Name, Image, & Likeness (NIL) at tOSU

I see many people that mention "revenue sharing". How is a public university, all of which are non profit organizations going to be able to do "revenue sharing"? Now maybe you mean "profit sharing", but universities work on a break even budget. While the football program generates more...
  17. Name, Image, & Likeness (NIL) at tOSU

That decision was part of the NBA collective bargaining agreement and had nothing to do with the NCAA. The NCAA does not set any rules on who can or cannot be drafted by professional sports leagues.
  18. SG Tanner Holden (transfer back to Wright St.)

I agree he needs to improve his defense and probably his perimeter shooting if he's to see 25 mpg. I think he's a Sueing clone who fits best at the 3 where there is a lot of competition. I'd guess he will be closer to 20 a game on average, more some nights, less others depending on matchups...
  19. CG Taison Chatman (Official Thread)

Would go into effect for the 2024 draft at the earliest.
  20. OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

The B1G guarantees scholarships for 4 years across all sports. Bronny will only be in college 1 year as his dad wants to play with him in the NBA. A team will take Jr. to get Sr. I think Jr. has NBA potential, but would normally be a 2-3 year college to prove his skill set as he has PG size.
