2022-2023 Ohio State Men's Basketball

I was traveling during the game and just got a chance to watch. The first thing I said to my wife after the game was I am so happy for every player, every coach, every trainer, and every other other person who works with the program. It had to lift a tremendous load off of their shoulders. I hope they savor the win against a good team and can build on today. Thornton was a beast. Sensabaugh played well at both ends. Sueing made an awesome play on a defensive rebound in the last couple minutes that kept momentum, and several other guys made excellent plays at key moments.
GO BUCKS!!

So is not playing a big man the strategy that turns this team around? Bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off.

There's never been a season where a team was going to miss the NCAA tourney if they don't win the BTT & that team actually ends up winning it (& thereby gets the necessary auto bid). The B1G has no juggernaut teams that OSU can't compete with. I'm not saying it will happen, but there surely will be some value on OSU in the conference tourney. I think the odds won't fully reflect the real parity in the B1G conference. IU is probably the team that will win it, but this OSU team will for sure be playing like it's their only chance.

I said the other day that I really felt there was a lot of hidden hope that that might happen for people really needing some Buckeye wins. I also think that Okpara can make a difference vs the bus hasn't teams but when he's out we can run like hell.

Quick review of above posters made me chuckle....everyone got a piece of it right, great win, Thorton emerging, Sueing effective in last several minutes. Yeah, overall, great game, especially being under-sized by the Illini timber. Maybe the four freshmen 'gelled', because thought they played very well together. Having Likele on bench, guess helped/made Thornton take control. Okpara played a limited role, didn't think he was in foul trouble, but. Eugene Wright II played tough D on their big (as usual), so guess Holtmann felt it, and let him go with it. I personally liked sending 3-4 Buckeyes to the hoop, as the midgets out rebounded the timber. Announcer noted that mid-way through the first that Illinois hadn't gathered in an offensive rebound yet. If anyone can, point out what was different this game, 'cuz I cannot. Maybe two half effort, working ball more, and not settling for 3-point heaves as shotclock goes down? Winning makes everything look rosier, no? Go Bucks!

Yeah, its obviously an outside chance, but we certainly have more talent than our record indicates. We likely get Nebraska our first game, then the second and third rounds are up for grabs. We need some help as I see us having a tough time beating Purdue or Indiana with only Okpara at C.

Easy to point out the flaws during a loss, and just as easy to smile, sit back after a win. Sure, there were flaws during the Illini game. However, believe we're all so relieved (sure the team/coaches are as well), that maybe coaches will focus on the positives during their weekly tape watching. Really thought the four frosh played well together, auguring well for the future. Cannot wait for the four (maybe five if Bronny signs up) to show up for summer practices. Can envision being under-personnelled (?) next year, after the transfers out occur. Go Bucks!

I'm laughing as I post this, but, the path isn't an impossible one. Penn State first. I'd put Gene on their best player can't think his name while I'm typing and don't turn the ball over. That's winnable for sure. Win and play Indiana, not our best matchup but if we could get TJD in foul trouble and make some threes for a change, that's winnable too. Then it works be NW. They're hot but we already thumped them once just have to not turn the ball over abs make shots. That's into the semi finals.

We haven't shown that we can do any of those things consistently this year but m maybe for a couple days tourney, like early in the year, they can channel something. Nothing to lose.
