The list of players invited to this year’s NBA Draft Combine has officially been released and a total of 12 former Big Ten standouts appear on the 63-man list. Indiana’s Yogi Ferrell is also listed as an alternate. The combine is set to take place on May 11-15 in Chicago. Here is the list of the 12 Big Ten players invited to participate in the event, along with a look at their projected draft stock and a current NBA comparison. This year’s NBA Draft rules allows players to go through the pre-draft process all the way through the combine. Those who

The Buckeyes must play their best baseball down the stretch of the season if they hope to make the Big Ten Tournament.

There are only three weekends left in the Big Ten regular season, and Ohio State will need to play its best baseball if it hopes to secure a berth in the conference tournament at the end of the month in Omaha.

At 8-7, the Buckeyes currently occupy the eighth and final tourney-worthy spot in the Big Ten standings, but their opponent this weekend, Iowa, is lurking just one game back. To say this is a crucial series for the team would be a massive understatement.

Ohio State has won four of its last five after a three-game sweep of Purdue last weekend and a midweek split with UAB.

"We need to continue to compete and keep it rolling into the weekend," head coach Greg Beals said after Wednesday's 12-3 win over UAB.

The Buckeyes continue to be defined by their pitching, which is in the top three in the Big Ten in earned run average, strikeouts, walks, and extra-base hits allowed. Weekend starters Tanner Tully and John Havird continued to be rock solid against the Boilermakers, combining to allow just three runs in 12 innings of work. The bullpen fared even better, yielding a single run in a collective 11 innings.

Offensively, Ohio State has slowed slightly, averaging just four runs per game over their past five, but still lead the conference in home runs and doubles, and place in the top three in slugging, runs scored, walks, and stolen bases. Juniors Jacob Bosiokovic (10), Ronnie Dawson (8), and Troy Montgomery (8), and senior Nick Sergakis (7) are all in the top ten in longballs, and will be facing a Hawkeyes' staff that has given up the second most.

If Beals and his squad want to see the postseason, it is imperative that they win this series. With top-four opponents Michigan and Minnesota looming the next two weekends, Ohio State has to put as much distance between itself and Iowa as possible, and there will never be a better opportunity to do so.

Iowa Hawkeyes (21-21, 7-8 in Big Ten play)

Head coach Rick Heller guided Iowa to an at-large NCAA tournament berth a season ago, the program's first since 1990. It's been more of a struggle this season, due in part to an extremely tough schedule and the fact that the Hawkeyes lost several key contributors to graduation and the draft.

Iowa is in the middle of the Big Ten pack offensively, hitting .268 as a team and averaging roughly 5.75 runs per game. A trio of seniors at the top of the order in Tyler Peyton, Joel Booker, and Nick Roscetti paces the lineup, and will provide a challenge for the Buckeyes' staff.

Peyton, a third-team All-America selection and a 33rd round pick of the Cincinnati Reds a season ago, decided to forego the pros to play his senior season in Iowa City. A first baseman and pitcher, Peyton is hitting .314 with 10 doubles, four home runs, and 20 RBIs.

Roscetti leads the team with a .333 batting average and 30 runs driven in, while also providing solid defense at shortstop. Booker is just a step behind him at .331, and his 13 doubles and five homers are tops on the team.

On the mound, the Hawkeyes have pitched solidly, though not spectacularly, and have struggled with giving up the longball. The 27 home runs allowed by Heller's staff is bested only by Purdue's 28. But Iowa only allows 4.5 runs a game and a .264 opponents' batting average, so Ohio State's lineup won't get anything easy.

The workhorse of the group is redshirt C.J. Eldred, a transfer from Indiana playing his first collegiate season. The right-hander has a seemingly poor 2-6 record, but sports just a 2.92 ERA, a .260 batting average against, a 1.18 WHIP, and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of just under 3-to-1 in 71 innings pitched.

On Saturday, Peyton will exchange his spot at first base for the pitching rubber. While the righty has struggled on the mound this season, going 1-5 with a 6.87 ERA and a .298 opponents' average in 38 innings, he's been very tough in his career.

Sunday's starter has not been determined as of this writing, but Heller has five other arms on the roster that have made a start this season.

Before I progress into my early predictions for the 2016 Ohio State football season, I want to take a few moments to congratulate the twelve young men who were selected in the 2016 NFL Draft, as well as the three young men who signed with NFL teams as undrafted free agents. Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott, Eli Apple, Taylor Decker, Darron Lee, Michael Thomas, Vonn Bell, Adolphus Washington, Braxton Miller, Nick Vannett, Joshua Perry, Cardale Jones, Tyvis Powell, Jalin Marshall, and Chase Farris – thank you for all of your contributions to Ohio State football, from 2012-2015. “ Hell, there are no rules here – we’re trying to accomplish something…” ~ Thomas Edison

Leave it to Thomas Edison, an Ohioan and considered “The Father Of Invention”, to appropriately summarize the goals for the 2016 Ohio State football team. No rules – just accomplish something.

“Something” is a pretty vague and open concept. Considering how much talent Ohio State lost to graduation and the NFL Draft, considering how I have written throughout spring practice about how 44 players on Ohio State’s roster are either redshirt freshmen or true freshmen…Damn right, Mr. Edison. There are no rules. Ohio State fans are just looking to see what this team can accomplish against a much tougher schedule in 2016 than 2015, with tremendously talented, yet inexperienced, players.

**

Tulsa Golden Hurricane (Game 2)

2015 OSU Opponent Ranking: 12 out of 12

Players Recruited By Ohio State: N/A. To the best of my knowledge, there are no players on Tulsa’s roster that Ohio State actively recruited or offered a scholarship.

Game Date: September 10, 2016

Kickoff Time: TBD

Location: Ohio Stadium

Rationale For The Ranking: Offensively, Tulsa is led by senior quarterback Dane Evans. Evans had a solid 2015 season, throwing 25 touchdowns and 4332 yards. Defensively, Tulsa surrendered points quite easily in 2015, averaging 40 points a game to the opponent in 2015. For a young team such as Ohio State, this game certainly will be an opportunity to work on every aspect offensively, before the big test down in Norman, Oklahoma, on September 17th.

Prediction: Tulsa’s head coach Phillip Montgomery did a solid job with the Golden Hurricane in 2015, leading them to a 6-7 record. Montgomery is a former Baylor offensive coordinator under Art Briles, meaning the Buckeyes can expect to see Tulsa throwing it all day long in Ohio Stadium on September 10th. With Ohio State having a young but talented defensive line, and inexperienced secondary, there may be some anxious moments, but look for Ohio State’s superior talent to be able to pull away in the second half. There is an old coaching axiom that a team makes its biggest improvement from game one to game two. Guess when these two teams meet? Game two, on September 10th.

Ohio State continues to sit incredibly well for many of the nation's best. With recruiting season entering the summer months, Urban Meyer could see his 2017 class get even better.

The recruiting trails are full of Buckeye coaches right now. Ohio State has hit the road to continue it's pursuit for the top prospects in the country. With thirteen currently already aboard for the 2017 class and more certainly to come, the future is about as bright as it can be for the Ohio State football program.

2018 DE earns OSU offer

2017 may be the current class of most importance for Ohio State, but that certainly hasn't stopped Urban Meyer and his coaching staff from getting a head start to the 2018 class. Yesterday, via his twitter, Max Wright (Katy, Texas / Taylor) let it be known that he was the latest prospect to earn an Ohio State offer. Wright is a 2018 strong-side defensive end and is widely considered a to be one of the top in the class at his position.

Standing at 6'4", 235 pounds, Wright already possesses the size to pose a real threat to any quarterback in his way. With two full seasons still to be played in his prep career, he boasts an impressive offer list of eleven schools. Some of the programs to offer Wright include Baylor, Duke, Georgia, TCU, Oklahoma, Texas and most recently Ohio State. As of right now, all signs point toward Wright staying home and playing his collegiate ball at the University of Texas, but there's a long way to go before national signing day 2018.

Blessed to say I have received an offer from The Ohio State Buckeyes pic.twitter.com/X7rBRbGjVX

Martell's latest rumblings

Let's cut to the chase, we know late Wednesday night the nation's top dual-threat quarterback, Tate Martell (Las Vegas, Nev. / Bishop Gorman) de-committed from Texas A&M. The signal caller has not been a stranger to Ohio State recruiting news and things look to stay that way. Yesterday, after the mass news of Martell's decision, the experts began to throw in their picks for the 247sports crystal ball.

Just within hours of Tate being back on the market, seven national recruiting analysts pegged Martell to the Buckeyes as his final college destination via crystal ball predictions. Things are certainly trending towards Ohio State for Tate, but schools such as Cal, USC, and even Oregon look to be the biggest threats to him dawning the scarlet and gray in the future. On his last visit to Ohio State back in March, Tate did admit that Ohio State was the biggest threat to the Aggies.

With that scenario now worked out, Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes will wait to see Tate's final word.

Wade back in Columbus again

You would think 4-star cornerback, Lamont Wade (Clairton, Penn. / Cliarton) had a second home in Columbus, Ohio with how often he's in town. Urban Meyer and staff are certainly in the works of making that happening, but the Clairton, Penn. native will be back to Ohio State yet again this weekend. Already knowing what Ohio State has to offer, Wade and the Buckeyes already hold a strong relationship. The only hinderance being with Wade wanting to enroll early and Ohio State with so many youngsters on the current roster may not have room. However, that is a situation that looks to be working out as of right now.

This weekend, Nike's The Opening will be holding a regional camp right in town. In attendance for this regional will be the aforementioned Wade. The seventh best cornerback in the 2017 class will once again showcase his premier talent and prove why he is one of the nation's best. If the early enrollment scenario between Wade and Ohio State does indeed work itself out, it could be only a matter of time before Wade announces that he's a Buckeye.

LGHL Ezekiel Elliott's set to make a run at NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

Behind Dallas' offensive line, the sky is the limit for the running back in his rookie year.

"A healthy Ezekiel Elliott has the skills to be productive in any system, but put him behind the Cowboys line with the tools to play on all three downs, and he'll easily walk away with Rookie of the Year."

- Sam Monson, Pro Football Focus

These days in the NFL it's rare to see a running back drafted in the top 10 in the NFL Draft, so if a running back's name gets called that early you know he has the chance to be special. The hype doesn't always materialize, just ask running backs like Trent Richardson and C.J. Spiller. The case of Ezekiel Elliott is likely to be a lot different from those two backs. Unlike Richardson and Spiller, Elliott stepped into about as perfect a situation as a running back could've when being drafted that early. If Dallas can get Darren McFadden over 1,000 yards rushing in a year when Tony Romo was hurt the majority of the season, imagine what Elliott will be able to do.

The biggest reason why Elliott is already being championed as one of the favorites for Rookie of the Year is because he'll have PFF's top run-blocking team the last two years in front of him. Even if the offensive line of the Cowboys isn't able to make holes, Elliott is likely to still make things happen since he is so good at picking up yardage after contact. Add in that Elliott is a three-down back because of his ability to block and catch. Because of Elliott's versatility it's going to be hard for Dallas to keep the running back on the sidelines. Elliott's production will likely be boosted if quarterback Tony Romo can stay healthy. If the veteran is able to recover from the injuries he suffered last year, it'll make Dallas' offense a little more unpredictable since defenses will also have to worry about Romo finding wide receiver Dez Bryant. All the pieces are there for Elliott to make a name for himself in the NFL early, and be the best rookie in this year's draft class.

"The New Orleans Saints grabbed former Ohio State wide receiver Michael Thomas in the middle of the second round, 47th overall. For some, this is right where Thomas should have gone. However, we might well look back in three years and talk about how the Saints stole one of the top receivers in the 2016 draft."

- Kristopher Knox, Bleacher Report

To Ohio State fans it's not a surprise that wide receiver Michael Thomas is already being called a possible steal in the 2016 NFL Draft after he fell to the second round. Thomas might not have put up numbers quite like Corey Coleman, Laquon Treadwell, Will Fuller, and Josh Doctson, but there's no denying Thomas is just as talented as those taken before him. Compared to those taken ahead of him, Thomas might actually be in the best situation as he heads into his rookie season in the NFL.

The most obvious luxury for Thomas is he'll have Drew Brees as his quarterback in New Orleans. Over the last 10 seasons, Brees has thrown for at least 4,300 yards and 26 touchdowns in each of those seasons. Thomas should also be able to see plenty of playing time during his rookie season, especially since the Saints released Marques Colston during the offseason. Combine Thomas' size and hands with speedy wide receiver Brandin Cooks, and the Saints should again be able to field another high-powered offense. Don't be surprised if Thomas quickly becomes one of Brees' favorite targets down in New Orleans.

"It's a controversial rule. Some coaches love it, some coaches don't. But it's a rule that we have to abide by, and for the guys it's their right to test the waters. We want our guys to be evaluated, and see if they have opportunities to play at the next level."

- Ohio State men's basketball assistant coach Dave Dickerson via Bill Landis, Cleveland.com

Many Ohio State fans were puzzled when Trevor Thompson announced he was declaring for the NBA Draft last month, but there is likely a method to Thompson's madness. Under a new NCAA rule, players can declare for the NBA Draft, but also can decide to return to school up to 10 days following the NBA Combine. The allure of doing this for a college player is the chance to possibly go to the NBA Combine, work with NBA coaches, and get an evaluation of where they stand as a player. A favorable evaluation could tip the scales in favor of a player deciding not to return to school. If they do return to school, they'll at least have an idea on areas where they could target to make them more attractive to NBA teams in the future.

The flaw in Thompson's plan is he not only wasn't one of the players invited to the NBA Combine, but he also isn't one of the alternates. What Thompson will have to hope for now is that he gets invited by an NBA team to an individual workout. Under the new NCAA rule, a player can work out individually with each NBA team once. Because of this it's likely to see Thompson return back to Ohio State, unless he decides play in the NBDL or internationally. Should Thompson return to Columbus for another year, the payoff could be large for the Buckeyes, as the process will help Thompson target areas he needs to improve on to make him a better player.

LGHL Urban Meyer's turned Ohio State into an NFL Draft factory

usa-today-8970425.0.jpg

Not every stud recruit will go on to the NFL at any school, but you have a pretty good shot when you play for Urban Meyer.

Urban Meyer has recruited 36 bluechip recruits (defined here are four- or five-star players according to the 247Sports Composite) to Ohio State that are now draft-eligible.

These are players from the 2012 and 2013 classes, and they formed the new core of Ohio State's roster. However, how effective has Urban and his staff actually been turning raw high school talent in to value for NFL teams? Of course, it's not always on the coaches -- sometimes even elite recruits change their focus and leave football or see their careers prematurely ended by injury.

But of the 36 blue-chippers, how many can be considered successes? I took a look at the data because of the NFL Draft:

NFL Draft pick Undrafted Transferred Retired due to injury Potential starter Established starter
8 4 8 6 8 4
Headed to the NFL

A little under a quarter of Urban's draft-eligible blue chip recruits were drafted in the 2016 NFL Draft, including Noah Spence, Adolphus Washington, Vonn Bell, Joey Bosa, Eli Apple, Ezekiel Elliott, Josh Perry, and Taylor Decker.

The four blue-chippers who were UDFAs are Tommy Schutt, Illinois State alum David Perkins, Jalin Marshall and Cam Williams. Schutt faced injuries and was a meaningful part of the defensive tackle rotation, but never the superstars that Bosa and Washington were on the line. Cam Williams actually already ruled out going the UDFA route, signing on to join the Patriots as a scout. Jalin Marshall is the big outlier here. The fourth-most talented blue-chip recruit from Urban's first two classes, Marshall nonetheless wasn't drafted after coming out early.

Interestingly, the average 247 Composite score from Urban's drafted players is .9722, while for everyone else it is .9328. From Urban's top six recruits from 2012 and 2013, only Jalin Marshall wasn't drafted (with a 247 Composite of .9856). So in Urban's case, the best of the best -- that is, those rated over .9700 in the 247 Composite -- are extremely likely to be drafted.

The only two players with a 247Sports Composite score over .9700 who didn't leave for the NFL Draft this year were Mike Mitchell, who transferred to Texas Tech and who has since transferred from there as well, and Cam Burrows, who is contending for a spot in the secondary this season. Ezekiel Elliott is just under the .97 cut off, at .9693.

What does that mean for future classes?

So if you're an Urban Meyer blue-chipper with a 247Sports Composite over .97, you have a nearly two-thirds shot at leaving early to be a likely high-round NFL Draft pick. That could mean good things next year for Raekwon McMillan, Damon Webb, Marshon Lattimore, Dante Booker, and likely Jamarco Jones as well (.9696).

However, things might be more difficult for this group of >.97 247Sports Composite blue-chippers to leave early, because Webb, Lattimore, Booker, and Jones have yet to be full-time starters due to the depth that was already ahead of them. The 2012 and 2013 classes were able to prove themselves younger than more recent classes have been (and will be) able to due to the increase in overall team talent when Urban started at Ohio State. That means good things for Buckeyes fans, and still likely means good things for those super-talented blue chippers.

Justin Hilliard, Jonathon Cooper, Nick Bosa, and Demario McCall are all current underclassmen with 247Sports Composite ratings over .97.

Transfers and injuries

While the odds are a lot better for you to pan out if you're a blue chipper, nothing is a sure thing. For instance, eight of the 36 blue chippers transferred, and six retired early due to injuries. Transfers include Noah Spence, Mike Mitchell, Se'Von Pittman, David Perkins, Warren Ball, Jayme Thompson, Joey O'Connor, Jamal Marcus, and Najee Murray. Injured and retired players include Trey Johnson, Mike Mitchell, Armani Reeves, De'Van Bogard, Kyle Dodson, Donovan Munger, and Joey O'Connor.

Players who transfer had an average 247Sports Composite rating of .9306, indicating that it's not always talent that influences who will transfer.

The NCAA made it’s selection today (May 5th) for the team participating in the upcoming NCAA Regional qualifiers. Unfortunately, the Buckeyes did not make the cut. This is disappointing to me (I’m sure the team more so) since I thought they were a “bubble” team and played well enough to get an invitation.

However, Tee-k Kelly and Will Grimmer were invited to participate to play as Individuals. These Individual invitations go to players who the NCAA Selection Committee feels are deserving, if their teams did not get an invitation.

There are six regions; three regions have 13 teams and 10 individuals, while three regions have 14 teams and 5 individuals. Tee-k and Will Grimmer will be playing at Blackwolf Run Meadow Valleys Course in Kohler, WI. The Regional qualifiers will take place from May 16-18. The low five teams and (more to the point) low Individual from each Region will advance to the NCAA Championship round.

Tee-k and Will have to bring their “A” games with them, because this set-up is working against them for two reasons. First, they are in a “high” participant Region; rather then the two of them have to fend off 3 competitors, they’ll do it against 8 competitors. The other factor is that since both of them are in the same region, only one of them can advance. So realistically, Tee-k and Will need to fend off 9 competitors.

Will averaged 73.4 strokes per round, which was best on the team. Tee-k was 2nd best at an average of 73.6 strokes per round. This is pretty good scoring, since it took place over a wide range of golf courses. Clark Engle has to be kicking himself; his stroke average of 73.7 evidently was just a bit too high to make the cut. Ugh.

Best of luck to Tee-k and Will. Fairways and greens, gentlemen.

MotS&G Forecasting the 2017 Defensive Back Haul

Forecasting the 2017 Defensive Back Haul

5-Star S, Jeffrey Okudah | Grand Prairie, TX

The number 1 safety in the country in 2017, Jeffrey Okudah holds offers from almost every high profile school in the country. This recruitment will last through official visits in the fall, but Okudah has made it no secret that the Buckeyes currently lead for his services. Okudah has only visited Ohio State one time, last summer, so getting him back on campus for an unofficial visit this summer and an official in the fall will play large in Ohio State’s chances of landing the star from the longhorn state. Okudah is a versatile DB that reminds many of high draft pick Jalen Ramsey from Florida State. Another key factor to watch in this recruitment is what Defensive Coordinator Greg Schiano does after this season, as Okudah has said that Schiano is a key factor on why he is so interested in Ohio State.

Projection : Ohio State

5-Star CB, Darnay Holmes | Calabasas, CA

Holmes, the number 1 corner in the nation, has a lot of interest in the Buckeyes and plans to visit the Buckeyes sometime this summer, most likely at Friday Night Lights in July. The problem for the Buckeyes is they seem to be playing from behind in this recruitment as Holmes has high interest in two schools that are closer to home in Stanford and UCLA. The Buckeyes, who does not have the advantage of being so close to Darnay, will look to combat this and land the high flight corner. Not only does it seem that local schools in Stanford and UCLA may be ahead, but a recent Calibraksa movement led by two of Holmes teammates in Keyshawn Johnson Jr. and Tristan Gebbia, has the Huskers also looming large in his recruitment. Again, getting Holmes on campus for an unofficial in the summer and official in the fall can only help the Buckeyes, but distance may be too hard to overcome.

Projection : UCLA

5-Star CB, Shaun Wade | Jacksonville, FL

Wade, a current Ohio State commit, has been committed to the Buckeyes since the 2015 National Championship game. It is always hard to retain a Florida kid who committed to your school over 2 years from when he signs a letter of intent, and this recruitment is no different. Wade, who hasn’t stepped foot on Ohio State’s campus since last summer, has taken several visits to other schools to survey his options. Two schools that have gained a lot of traction in his recruitment are Florida and Alabama and they will be in it till the end. Although Wade is still publicly committed to the Buckeyes, it is hard to see him ultimately staying with that pledge through National Signing Day. Florida is the hometown school and Alabama has the advantage of Wade originally being from Tuscaloosa in their favor.

Projection : Alabama

4-Star S, Isaiah Pryor | Bradenton, FL

Isaiah Pryor, once thought to be leaning towards Notre Dame early in his recruitment, committed to Ohio State last July and this recruitment looks to be one that is over. Although schools continue to try to get Pryor to take a look at them, his relationship with the Buckeyes could not be any better. Some fans were a bit worried when it was reported that Pryor was checking out Tuscaloosa on his way back down from a Ohio State visit, but it appears that that visit meant little if anything in his recruitment. It would be a great surprise to see Pryor sign anywhere but for Ohio State on National Signing Day.

Projection : Ohio State

4-Star CB, Lamont Wade | Clairton, PA

Wade, once thought to be a sure bet to end up in Columbus, has seen his recruitment open up a bit more recently. Lamont has taken numerous visits to home state schools Penn State and Pittsburgh since the New Year and it has recently come out that Lamont and his family are concerned about him having a chance to enroll early if Ohio State were the choice. With Ohio State having such tight numbers as far as recruiting in the 2017 class, it is hard to have a definite answer if that opportunity will be there for Lamont. Ultimately, the concern over enrolling early may end a once perfect fit between Lamont and Ohio State and push him to a school closer to home. One key fact to consider in this recruitment is that Lamont’s parents would prefer that he not go to Pittsburgh.

Projection : Penn State

4-Star CB, Marcus Williamson | Bradenton, FL

Williamson, originally from Westerville South in Ohio, transferred to IMG Academy this year. He has been an Ohio State commitment for a while and it has been widely reported that he has been working on his teammates down at IMG to get them to Columbus as well. The one guy on the list of Defensive Back targets for Ohio State that I am most confident in being in this class come Signing Day is Marcus. This recruitment is about as cut and dry as it can get, nothing to see here.

Projection : Ohio State

4-Star CB, Amir Riep | Cincinnati, OH

A guy who has upward of 50 offers to date and will announce his intentions sometime during the summer is thought to be an Ohio State lean. Ohio State is in a position where if they offer an Ohio kid, there is a close to 100% chance they sign him if he is a take for them. Amir resides from Colerain, which happens to be the same high school that Ohio State Corners Coach Kerry Coombs use to be the Head Coach. This recruitment has just too much going for it not to wind up being Ohio State and Ohio State will gladly take a kid that is widely coveted around the country.
Projection : Ohio State

4-Star CB, Kary Vincent | Port Arthur, TX

This is a guy that is not talked about much with Ohio State and should get more publicity. Kary will be visiting at some point this summer and potentially again in the fall. A guy that has a number of high profile offers and that the coaching staff really likes, Kary could be a surprise addition to the 2017 class. Ultimately, I believe a numbers crunch will leave Kary on the outside looking in on Ohio State’s 2017 recruiting class, but if Ohio State were to miss out on a corner projected above or find a last minute scholarship, Kary could very much make his way into the class.

Projection : Texas

One of the top 2018 prospects from Pennsylvania received good news on Wednesday when the Buckeyes dropped him an offer. Also, the dice might roll the Buckeyes' way on a recruit from Las Vegas

Kuntz gets OSU offer

On Wednesday, Ohio State went on the path to finding a tight end for the future. Zack Kuntz (Camp Hill, Penn. / Camp Hill) was the recipient of a Buckeye offer.

Extremely honored to receive an offer from THE Ohio State University! pic.twitter.com/MGneRuSXZD

— Zack Kuntz (@zackkuntz_717) May 4, 2016

Kuntz is a 6'7", 205-pounder who has already racked up offers from Duke, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and now Ohio State. Obviously other schools -- like Stanford, UCLA and USC -- are keeping their eye on the Pennsylvania native as possible offers in the future.

For now, the Buckeyes will try to make their pitch to Kuntz in hopes of convincing him to take a look at campus and start building relationships with the coaches.

However, it's Penn State who is widely projected to land the Pennsylvania prospect – surprise, surprise.

Martell Decommits from Texas A&M

Big news came out of Sin City, as Tate Martell (Las Vegas, Nev. / Bishop Gorman) pulled his commitment to play for Texas A&M. Coincidentally, Ohio State's QB specialist Tim Beck visited with Martell earlier in the day, according to 247Sports.

After talking with my family about
what is best for my future, I have
decided to reopen my recruiting
process.

— Tate Martell (@TheTateMartell) May 5, 2016

This is big news, as Martell is a 5-star dual QB, and is the No.1 dual QB in the 2017 class. Currently, over 20 schools have sent offers to the Bishop Gorman signal caller – including defending national champions Alabama. Time will tell where Martell will go, but 247Sports had the Buckeyes as the No.2 place he would go behind Texas A&M.

With the Aggies out of the picture, does that mean the Scarlet and Gray lead the way?

Meyer speaks with Marshall

On Tuesday, 2017 TE Alexander Marshall (Andover, Mass. / Andover) picked up an offer from Ohio State. Land-Grant Holy Land's own Austin Kemp wrote about the offer for Marshall and Wednesday afternoon the mismatch nightmare got to speak with the big boss.

Just had a great conversation with Urban Meyer at THE Ohio State #Buckeyes

— Alexander Marshall (@A_marshall80) May 4, 2016

Like Kemp stated in his piece, the Seminoles of Florida State are the odds on favorite when it comes to Marshall. However, in the last two days Offensive Coordinator/Tight Ends coach Ed Warinner visited him, Ohio State offered him, and Head Coach Urban Meyer gave him a call. Not a bad start for the Buckeyes' pursuit of the 6'7", 240-pounder.

Marshall is a three-star prospect in this years class and has nabbed offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, UCLA, USC and many more. Marshall is also graded as the third best player from the state of Massachusetts, a state that the Buckeyes have had tremendous success as of late.

If you took all the children in Ohio who don’t have regular access to food and brought them to Columbus, you would be able to fill Ohio Stadium six times over and still have a line outside. Bruce McPheron, Ohio State’s interim executive vice president and provost, shared that factoid at the inaugural Buckeye Summit in mid-April. More than 600 researchers, students and alumni gathered in Columbus for the day-long dialogue about tackling the issue of food insecurity at home and abroad. Attendees participated in roundtable discussions and listened to presentations from keynote speakers. Additionally, 39 percent of the people
