My dentist fucked up a couple of fillings, causing some serious pain. What can I do about it? Oh wait! lol
haha, no worries. I ended up finding the thread. Was able to get Xbox Live working for MW2, but NCAA never seemed to work. Maybe next season.
yeah I did finish it up, see the graphic forum. went with the duck hunt theme.

sorry about all of those pocket dials to your phone (...2843). I eventually deleted your contact from my phone. THere's always one person who my rustling pocket thinks I am trying to call (when it bumps the voice dial button). It used to be wadc45 :lol:
Well I'm used to using Microsoft Technologies for business use, but tools and hosting for Microsoft development are usually more expensive. I did a quick google. These 2 tutorials may give you a nice refresher, one on PHP and one on PHP and MySQL: PHP/MySQL Tutorial - Part 1 and PHP Tutorial - Part 1

Well then the easiest way to set up the table is make each "Description | Name " a row in a single database table with 3 fields: ID, Description, and Row.

This particular part of the tutorial kind of shows you how to make an html table from your database. Set up your page similarly, but your <TH>'s would be "Description" and "Name" and then as you loop through:

<?
$i=0;
while ($i < $num) {
$id=mysql_result($result,$i,"ID");
$description=mysql_result($result,$i,"Description");
$name=mysql_result($result,$i,"name");

$textBoxName='textBox'.$ID;
?>
<tr>
<td><? echo $description; ?></td>
<td><input type="text" name="<? ehco $textboxName; ?>" text="<? echo $name; ?>" /></td>
</tr>

Please refer to the tutorial to finish that up. Put the row count of the result set from the table in a hidden input field so you can get that from the submit also when the submit is hit loop through all the textboxes and update the value in the database. When you want to clear the fields just use this SQL statement "Delete Name from tablePotluck" and that should clear all the names. alternately you could use "Update tablePotluck set Name = '' " I hope that made some sense. Go through the tutorials first then reread this. Hopefully it will make more sense.
White Russians? Yes. Costume? Redhawk, please. ORD does NOT do costumes. Hell, I went as Don Draper for Halloween this year.
Are you on $cout? That exact saying is his sig on there. He is continuing acting like an "Insider" and is still all self-important. Sears quoted one of posts one time and included a picture of a baptism. Hilarious stuff.
No idea, save that anything that goes into a db can be pulled out for other purposes... but don't ask me how. I've done a very tiny bit of managing tables - VERY tiny - and don't really know how to connect information to anything. Really should learn, though. BP's database needs some scrubbing, preferably before we upgrade next spring/summer. Really don't see the time to get myself up to speed, though. So very much to break.

But good luck to ya. :)
I get pretty wired. I can actually skip two nights without too much issue. Tried three for finals once in college... okay, two for finals and one to enjoy being done with finals. That was a bit rough. I'm tons more productive this way, though. Too tired to think about distractions, so work zooms on by. I think I just solved several somethings the folks at work have been puzzling over for months... yay! But I don't have months to implement it, just a few days, and this is Ye Olde Family Holiday Week.

Any progress on your database dilemmas?
I didn't go to sleep yesterday. Sure is good for getting lots of work done. And for hallucinations. Hey, what was that?
That's not an exact replica of the table, but the basic idea of it. You type in your name next to an item and hit submit to update the page with your name there.

It doesn't have to be mysql either, if you have an easier idea for a dynamic potluck signup page. I've searched around for anything for about a week with no luck.
I went to one of the first ones in Louisville and the first two out West (vegas and la), but the crowd started to get lame. It's a shell of its former self. Buncha fucking amateurs.
I've never actually worked in MySQL, but I may still be able to help. 2 real questions come up from this: do you need the SQL statement to make the table? and is that an exact replication of the sign up?
Lebowskifest started in Louisville, no? My sister just moved there. I'm thinking Lebowskifest may be a good time to visit her.
Some day I'll tell you about the early days of Lebowskifest. Before it got compromised by a buncha assholes who did not have the necessary means, necessary means to succeed on a level field of play.

For those of you who could help me...

the database/asp pages worked fine until we switched webhosts, which don't support CDONT code. So if it's easier to figure out how to convert CDONT code to CDO, let me know.
Wondering if you could point me in the right direction...

1) I took PHP, ASP & MYSQL classes 7 years ago and successfully forgot everything I learned.

2) I remodeled a hideous church website, but when we moved to the new webhost, the CDONT language was not supported, so our potluck signup pages (ASP & database files) died. Like I have any idea how to convert it to CDOSYS :lol:

3) I need a virtual signup sheet. 10 rows, 4 for entrees, 2 for desserts, etc. A user goes to the webpage, types their name (like signing their name at church), and hits submit. Also need to be able to reset the form.

Do you know of a quick way to do this for a PHP/ASP illiterate feller like myself? Or could you point me in the right direction?

I've googled for way too long, but perhaps my illiteracy is hampering my searches.
Sorry, I work in the admin arena. My programming is generally limited to scripts I write for admin tools. You could always post it in the technology forum and see who can help. It sounds like something for which Deety might be a good resource.
