Folks, we have Buckeye football.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are back, with some spring football Saturday afternoon.

The Buckeyes are coming off of what was a great season up until the Fiesta Bowl loss to Clemson, but they’re back and still loaded with talent all around that we’ll be able to see at a sold out Ohio Stadium of 82,000. Around 20,000 seats will not be available on Saturday due to construction at the stadium.

Urban Meyer has always been big on getting fans to see the Bucks in the spring, and that’s no different this year.

"We're very fortunate to watch guys perform in front of a lot of people in the seats, a lot of people in the stands," Meyer told ESPN. "I love it. I love the fact these kids get to play in front of a group like that."

We should be seeing that on Saturday. As far as the teams go, Team Gray will be coached by Greg Schiano, with J.T. Barrett and Dwayne Haskins at quarterback. Others on the team include Parris Campbell, Binjimen Victor, and Mike Weber.

For Team Scarlet — coached by Kevin Wilson — Joe Burrow and Tate Martell with be quarterbacking. K.J. Hill, Austin Mack, and Demario McCall highlight just some of the players on their squad. You can view the full rosters here.

Here’s other information that you need to know.

Are there any special guests?

Urban Meyer has asked Nike Chairman Emeritus Phil Knight and former head coach Lou Holtz to be guest coaches for the game. Knight will be the honorary coach for Team Gray, and Holtz for team Scarlet.

Where can I park if I’m attending?

If you are attending the game, parking is free in lots around the stadium and on campus, except for the west stadium lot.

Can I still go, or is it too late?

Those who have already purchased tickets will be able to attend. If you are a student hoping to go, you will be able to get in with your BuckID, along with children under the age of 6.

How to watch

Game time: 12:30 p.m. ET

Radio: 97.1 FM

TV: Big Ten Network

Offensive woes continued to plague the Buckeyes, as they fell 2-0 to the Spartans.

Ohio State baseball finds itself in need of two straight victories if it hopes to pull out a Big Ten series win after losing the opener of its three-game weekend set with Michigan State by a score of 2-0. The Buckeyes are now 3-7 in conference play.

Not to sound like a broken record, but Ohio State had trouble generating offense. The club was 0-for-8 at the plate with runners in scoring position, and managed just four hits, marring what was a well-pitched game by the scarlet and gray’s hurlers.

Taking another step forward in what has been a rough season was Buckeyes’ pitcher Yianni Pavlopoulos. Starting for the second straight weekend due to injuries and his own struggles as the team’s closer, the redshirt junior turned in a quality start, allowing just two runs on five hits in five innings of work. Though he took the loss, Pavlopoulos kept the team in the game and made a case to remain in the starting rotation.

Kyle Michalik, Joe Stoll, and Curtiss Irving combined for three innings of solid relief, allowing a total of just two baserunners.

Ohio State had early chances against Spartans’ starter Alex Troop, but failed to capitalize. Jalen Washington was left on third base after doubling to lead off the game in the first, and both he and Noah West were left in scoring position in the third. Not cashing in on these opportunities against a quality ballclub on the road has plagued the Buckeyes all season long.

And as has often been the case, Ohio State’s opponent took advantage. Michigan State scored a run in the bottom of the third against Pavlopoulos, who had retired the first six hitters he faced. It started with a leadoff double by Royce Ando, who moved to third on a sacrifice fly. But Ando would be thrown out trying to score on a grounder off the bat of Danny Gleaves.

With two outs and a runner now on first, it appeared Pavlopoulos would be able to pick his team up and get out of the inning unscathed. A triple off the wall in right-center by Bryce Kelley ended that possibility, though, with Gleaves coming around to score the game’s first run.

From that point, the Buckeyes would barely touch Troop, whose already minuscule, conference-best earned run average dwindled further, ending at 1.50 when the southpaw departed the game. In all, Troop tossed six scoreless innings, yielding just three hits while walking four and striking out seven.

In the fourth, the Spartans tacked on one more, and once again it was thanks to two-out hitting. Matt Byars led off the inning with a double, but after a lineout and a shallow flyout, Pavlopoulos was on the verge of working out of the jam. Ando then stepped to the plate and ripped his second double of the game, this one over left fielder Noah McGowan’s head, and Byars crossed the dish for a 2-0 advantage.

Right-hander Jake Lowery and lefty Joe Mockbee threw three scoreless innings in relief of Troop for Michigan State, despite allowing baserunners into scoring position in both the seventh and eighth. Much as in the game’s early going, Ohio State was unable to cash in, and a great chance for a Big Ten road win slipped by.

The two sides will play game two of the series on Saturday at McLane Stadium in East Lansing. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET, and the game will be available for live streaming on BTN Plus.

The TV programming schedule, like The Spot, is good.

"We communicate with the schools when they pick their dates and encourage them to set start times that allow games to be shown live on the linear network,"

BTN communications manager Pat Kenny on which football spring games are shown live on television, as reported by Mark Snyder, The Detroit Free Press

With the spring games of both Ohio State and Michigan taking place at roughly the same time tomorrow, that means one very important thing: one team is going to get their spring game played live on the Big Ten Network, while the other gets shown on a delay.

Spoiler: The powers that be granted the Buckeyes the live broadcast, while the Wolverines’ spring practice will go on after the Bucks. But, how does BTN determine who gets to go on TV at what time?

BTN Communications manager Pat Kenny said that there was communication as to how the planning and start times of the games would go, and from there, the network would try to get the teams on as soon as possible. In the case of when OSU and UM laid out their respective plans for the spring scrimmage, the Buckeyes announced that they were having the specifics of their spring game on Jan. 17, while the Wolverines announced their spring game date and time a week later on Jan. 23.

From a scheduling perspective, if the Buckeyes submitted their dates and times first, it would make sense if BTN booked the Bucks first in the programming lineup. Especially considering that OSU has a huge following, eyeballs will be on the screen. Likewise, the Wolverines have an alumni and fan base that stretches the globe, too.

This doesn’t seem, let alone look, like a slight to the team up north. In the past couple years, the Michigan spring game took place in the first days of April, according to the Detroit Free Press article. So, it would’ve made sense if BTN was planning on holding that spot for Harbaugh’s program.

However, with UM scheduling their game on the same day as OSU, and making that arrangement after OSU finalized their dates and times, it will be the Scarlet and Gray being shown live.

“This is about football for me,” Belichick said. “There’s a lot of great other sports at Ohio State, I respect all of those, my daughter coached lacrosse here. Nothing is taking anything away from that. Ohio State is about football. And that’s what it should be.”

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick at the Ohio State coaching clinic, as reported by Doug Kyed, Yahoo/NESN

Keeping up with the theme of football, specifically, championship football, reigning Super Bowl champion coach Bill Belichick was in Columbus, Ohio yesterday at the Ohio State coaching clinic.

The New England Patriots head coach talked about the fantastic job Meyer has done with the program. Additionally, Belichick name dropped Kevin Wilson and Greg Schiano—showing that their football IQ has been recognized by the five-time Super Bowl winning coach.

There may have been another reason why Belichick was in town: the Pats have used draft picks in the past on Buckeyes. USA rugby olympian and special teams player Nate Ebner is a Buckeye, and was a sixth round pick back in 2012.

With defensive back Gareon Conley projected as a first to second round selection, he could be someone the Patriots may be after. Additionally, speedster Curtis Samuel and linebacker Raekwon McMillan are in the second round range—and could easily catch the eye of the Super Bowl champions.

Considering that Urban Meyer and Bill Belichick are two of the most successful coaches in their respective leagues, it isn’t a surprise that there was a meeting of the minds in Columbus—and an opportunity for other coaches to get a glimpse into the mind of football success.

“We won’t know until this fall how Prince’s progress will manifest itself on the field. And while it’s important to note that spring practice is often prone to optimism, it’s hard to take the effusive praise of Prince as anything but a promising sign.”

Ben Axelrod on the improvement of Isaiah Prince heading into the upcoming season, Landof10.com

Lastly, with the spring game happening in under 24 hours, we’ll get see new faces in new roles, as well as older players grow into bigger roles.

In the case for Isaiah Prince, his progress moving forward could be one of the biggest reasons why Ohio State is in the hunt for a championship come November. Last season, Prince struggled in the role of right tackle, ranking last in the category of pass-blocking efficiency, according to Pro Football Focus. There were 45 occasions last season where Prince was responsible for allowing quarterback pressure.

This time around, and with the bitter taste of a 31-0 loss in the Fiesta Bowl to eventual national champions Clemson still lingering, Prince can set the tone for an explosive season on the offensive line. A reason for Prince struggling may have just been he was put into a starting spot too early, and lived with trial-by-fire against some of the best defensive teams in the country.

According to Ben Axelrod’s article, Jalyn Holmes said that Prince has worked on his technique and has made strides to become better this year. We’ll get the first glimpse of the improvements of Prince tomorrow at the spring game.

Who you got? Team Scarlet, or Team Gray?

Ohio State has released the rosters for Saturday’s 2017 Ohio State spring game.

The headliners for Team Gray, coached by Greg Schiano and with honorary coach Phil Knight, include J.T. Barrett and Dwayne Haskins at quarterback. They’ll be throwing passes to targets like Eric Glover-Williams, (who has made the switch to wideout), Parris Campbell, Binjamin Victor, Terry McLaurin and A.J. Alexander. Mike Weber is also on the Gray team, although I wouldn’t bet on him taking too many carries out of the backfield.

Team Scarlet, coached by Kevin Wilson, with honorary coach Lou Holtz, will include Joe Burrow and Tate Martell at QB, Johnnie Dixon, Austin Mack, K.J. Hill and Demario McCall catching passes.

Expect Ohio State’s young secondary to get a workout from the four QBs throwing passes all over the field, and for Ohio State’s offensive line to face a very stiff test from the talented and deep defensive front spread across both teams.

With a 20% chance of rain and construction, it won’t set any records but...

Ohio State will not set the national spring game attendance record for a third straight season. Due to renovation to Ohio Stadium’s C-Deck, plus a 20% chance of rain, the Buckeyes are going to have at least 20% less fans than the 100,000+ they’ve showcased each of the past two seasons. But plenty of Buckeye faithful should be around Saturday, rain or shine, as the 2017 Ohio State football season gets underway.

The Buckeye football program announced Friday that tickets were no longer being sold for Saturday’s event with over 82,000 accounted for. OSU students with a valid student ID and children under 6 will be admitted additionally free with no purchase necessary.

In recent years, proceeds from the annual exhibition contest have been split up between local charities.

If you're making your way to campus, parking is free in the lots surrounding Ohio Stadium and on campus other than the West stadium lot. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. with the game set for around a 12:30-12:45 p.m. start.

The Buckeyes are struggling and need a Big Ten series win against the Spartans in the worst way.

There’s no way at this point in the season to sugarcoat the struggles of the Ohio State baseball team. The Buckeyes dropped midweek games on Tuesday and Wednesday to sub-.500 Cincinnati and Eastern Michigan programs—collecting a mere nine hits and scratching out two runs total. Ohio State has seen its record on the year dip to 14-19, and even worse, to 4-8 at home.

Things have reached the point where after Wednesday night’s defeat the team spent half an hour huddled around head coach Greg Beals in left field at Bill Davis Stadium. The Buckeyes’ skipper is looking for answers to the team’s poor performance at the plate just as us outside observers are.

“We’ve got to keep mixing up what we’re doing to find the right thing,” Beals told The Lantern after the game. “And it’s not necessarily as much from a personnel standpoint as much as it is what’s going to spark this team, and sometimes there’s personnel decisions to help spark the team and other things that we do from a preparation standpoint to help spark the team.”

The offensive woes are nothing new. This is a club that has had issues hitting all season, ranking in the bottom half of the Big Ten in a host of statistical categories. Ohio State had to expect some drop-off with its bats after losing standouts Ronnie Dawson and Troy Montgomery, along with a solid senior class, after the 2016 season.

But the sharpness of the decline in production is striking. This 2017 iteration of the Buckeyes is batting more than 30 points lower as a team than a season ago, to go along with similar decreases in on-base percentage and slugging, and is scoring roughly two fewer runs per game.

“It’s hitting, and it’s on top of us right now,” Beals said. “We’re simply struggling with the confidence thing. You can just see that in our approach.”

The impact of less offense could perhaps have been absorbed if the pitching staff had duplicated its stalwart efforts from last year, but the team earned run average has jumped nearly 1.50 without the presence of arms like Tanner Tully, Michael Horejsei and John Havird. Injuries and inconsistency have been major issues, too.

Ohio State now must hit the road to take on a solid, balanced Michigan State club in East Lansing, Mich., knowing full well that at 3-6 in conference play, a series win is a necessity. Only the top eight teams in the standings get an invitation to the Big Ten tournament, and right now the Buckeyes are on the outside looking in. Unless something drastically changes, this is not a squad that will see the postseason.

“As a coaching staff and team we’re going to continue to fight,” Beals said. “We gotta’ find that thing that’s going to spark this ballclub.”

Michigan State Spartans (18-11, 2-3 in Big Ten play)

Whereas Ohio State has been anything but a juggernaut offensively, Michigan State comes into the weekend as arguably the most dangerous lineup in the entire conference. Ninth year head coach Jake Boss has the green and white at or near the top of every important statistical category in the Big Ten, placing first or second in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits, runs scored, runs batted in, doubles and home runs.

To put it mildly, the Spartans are the polar opposite of the Buckeyes at the plate. Boss’ bunch combines experience and youth in a well-blended attack that collectively slashes .298/.390/.468 and scores an average of nearly 7.5 runs per game.

At the top of the order, Bryce Kelley, Marty Bechina, and Dan Durkin are all on-base machines and score runs in droves. Bechina also happens to lead the team with six home runs, as he puts together a solid case for all-conference honors in his second season.

The Michigan State lineup is long, meaning that even as a pitcher works his way to the bottom, there is very little change in production and no “easy outs.” The team’s run producers look like this:

  • Alex Troop: .339/.464/.643, six doubles, three home runs, nine RBIs
  • Brandon Hughes: .336/.394/.508, seven doubles, four home runs, 28 RBIs
  • Dan Chmielewski: .282/.336/.409, eight doubles, two home runs, 14 RBIs
  • Matt Byars: .273/.385/.477, nine doubles, three home runs, 17 RBIs
  • Zack McGuire: .297/.368/.532, 11 doubles, five home runs, 21 RBIs

Ohio State’s pitching staff has been knocked around at a .277/.360/.392 clip this season, which could turn this matchup into a very long weekend indeed.

Further complicating matters for the Buckeyes will be a Spartan stable of arms that has been nearly as formidable as its offense. As a staff, MSU allows just over four runs an outing, with a 3.23 earned run average, a .255 opponent batting average and a 1.29 WHIP.

Troop is a powerful bat in the lineup, but doubles as the Friday night starter as well. The redshirt sophomore lefty has been dominant, going 4-2 in eight starts with a 1.69 ERA. In 48 innings of work, Troop has limited opponents to a .222 batting average, sports a WHIP of 1.06 and averages more than four strikeouts per walk allowed.

Following him on Saturday is redshirt junior right-hander Ethan Landon, who has amassed a 2-1 record with a 4.67 ERA in eight appearances that includes seven starts, and junior righty Andrew Gonzalez, who is 3-1 with a 4.40 ERA in seven outings that includes six starts.

But the undisputed strength of Boss’ staff is the bullpen, anchored by senior setup man Walter Borkovich and sophomore closer Riley McCauley. Borkovich, a right-hander from Traverse City, Mich., was already one of the most well-established bullpen weapons in the Big Ten entering the year, and has does nothing but back up that claim with his performance. In 15 relief appearances covering 32 innings, he’s 4-2 with a 1.97 ERA.

McCauley was an instant contributor as a freshman in 2016, and has built upon that success. In 11 appearances, the righty has notched six saves, allowing a total of three runs to score. Providing depth behind he and Borkovich are right-handers Nathan Witt and Jake Lowery, and southpaw (and former Walsh Jesuit High School standout) Joe Mockbee.

The Buckeyes average a shade under five runs per game, though that number is buoyed a bit by a few double-digit explosions throughout the season. Since the calendar turned to April, Ohio State has been outscored 35-27, scoring two runs or fewer in five of its eight games. Against a stingy Michigan State staff, scoring opportunities will be at a premium for the Scarlet and Gray this weekend.

Get excited about football-like substance coming this weekend!

Ohio State football. Is. Back ... Well, sort of.

Team Scarlet and Team Gray renew acquaintances with landscaping duty at Buckeye Grove on the line in your first look at the 2017 Ohio State football team (and our first since that Playoff game we shan't speak of).

Once again, OSU looks to reload after a decently sized exodus to the next level, and while there aren't some of the marquee positional battles of yesteryear, there's still a new look to the secondary and an offense under a first-year offensive coordinator that has to get miles better -- and in a hurry.

The massive national record setting attendance of recent years' spring games is unfortunately logistically impossible; Ohio Stadium's C-Deck is undergoing renovation which means capacity is hard-capped at 84,000. The weather may also not be super great which means if you're going to Saturday's festivities, be sure to bring an umbrella/poncho.

What is the Ohio State spring game?

The Ohio State 2017 LiFE Sports Spring Game, presented by Nationwide, is the football program's annual mid-April intrasquad scrimmage between Team Scarlet and Team Gray at Ohio Stadium. This year it takes place Saturday, April 15 at 12:30 p.m, and should last roughly an hour and a half (an ordinary football game is about three to three and a half hours long).

Breaking with tradition, the spring game will not be preceded this year by an Ohio State men's lacrosse match in The 'Shoe. The men's lax Buckeyes are on the road facing That School Up North, but that's on BTN immediately before the spring game at 10:30 a.m. if you're into that sort of thing.

How similar will this be to a real game?

It's a football-like substance!

The game will feature four 10-minute quarters with a running clock in the second half. Expect shenanigans though, with Urban Meyer and co. routinely stopping live action and treating things like a practice. If you're ready to see if Sean Nuernberger can make six field goals of varying length in succession after a touchdown, get excited.

Due to construction and the weather, the environment won't be as game-like as in some recent years. But you can still expect the coaching staff to put some of their young freshmen in situations that might push their comfort zone as this will be their first time ever playing in Ohio Stadium.

Will Ohio State smash attendance records again this year?

No. For starters, they literally won’t be able to, since capacity at Ohio Stadium will be limited to around 84,000, since Ohio State is doing construction on C Deck. Plus, current weather forecasts are projecting rain as pretty likely on Saturday, and less than perfect weather means the stadium might not be completely full.

But don’t worry that Ohio State football has peaked and recruits won’t want to come here if ONLY say, 65,000 people show up to watch a practice. It’ll be fine.

How can I watch the spring game?

The Big Ten Network will be broadcasting the spring game Saturday. The game will also be available for streaming online (and on your tablet and smartphones) on BTN2Go.

You can find BTN on Spectrum Columbus/Delaware on Channel 333 HD/58 SD, on WOW! at channels 219 HD/87 SD, nationally on DirecTV on channel 610, on DISH on channel 405/410, and on AT&T U-verse channel 1650 HD/650.

Former Ohio State coach Glen Mason will be in the booth providing commentary for the game along with former Buckeye linebacker Bobby Carpenter on the sidelines. BTN staple Kevin Kugler will be on the mic for play-by-play. The familiar duo of Paul Keels and Jim Lachey will be on the radio call.

What are the rosters for each team?

They’re not out yet, but once they are, we’ll feature them right here.

What (if any) are the recruiting implications of this weekend?

Of course there are recruiting implications. If you can get 60,000+ fans to show up for a practice, wouldn’t you want recruits to see that? Some of Ohio State’s biggest recruiting targets should be in attendance, from the top player in the state, offensive lineman Jackson Carman (who the Buckeyes are battling Clemson for), to top-ranked defensive end, and Penn State commit, Micah Parsons, to current Buckeye commit Emory Jones, to five-star defensive back Patrick Surtain Jr, and many more. Don’t be shocked if a player pulls the trigger and commits to the Buckeyes during, or after, the game.

What are the anticipated position battles?

There are a few that are probably worth a closer look.

J.T. Barrett is clearly entrenched as Ohio State’s starting quarterback, and as a redshirt senior, probably won’t play too much on Saturday. But the Buckeyes have recruited a bevy of blue-chip options, and the exact pecking order behind him could potentially change.

The leader in the backup clubhouse is Joe Burrow, a redshirt sophomore from Athens. Burrow looked good last season as Barrett’s backup, and has the most experience. But two other recent additions, redshirt freshman Dwayne Haskins, and true freshman Tate Martell, have much stronger recruiting pedigrees, and could potentially pass him with a strong offseason.

With Kevin Wilson and Ryan Day itching to repair Ohio State’s struggling passing game, figure to see passes flying early and often in the spring game. This should be a fun chance to get a glimpse at the future of the most important position for the Buckeyes.

Another will be in the secondary. This position group experienced a ton of attrition, as Malik Hooker, Marshon Lattimore and Gareon Conley are about to become exceptionally wealthy men thanks to the NFL Draft. Early enrollees, like JUCO Kendall Sheffield, and mega recruits like Jeffery Okudah and Shaun Wade, will show off and be in the mix, along with returning players, like Rodjay Burns, Damon Arnette and Jahsen Wint. The continued excellence of this position group will be critical for the Buckeyes to make another run at the Playoff, and it’ll unquestionably require some newcomers.

Finally, you’ll want to check out who is catching passes. The spring game could start the resurgence of the tight end position as an offensive threat, now that Wilson is calling the shots, so players like A.J Alexander, Luke Farrell and Jake Hausmann could have big games. And of course, which wideouts perform will be worth watching. Will Buckeye vets, like Johnnie Dixon or Parris Campbell, finally start to reach their potential? Will Eric Glover-Williams shine in his new position? Will younger players, like Binjimen Victor or Austin Mack, stake a claim for more playing time? We might get a clue tomorrow.

One of the nation’s very best linebackers arrives in Columbus for a visit with the Buckeyes

Tuliaupupu arrives in Columbus

We are now just one day away from Ohio State’s annual spring game showdown in Columbus, which also means a major recruiting weekend is on deck for the Buckeyes. But before that comes about, Ohio State welcomed 2018 inside linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu, who made his way from California and arrived at Ohio State yesterday evening, to campus to check out what the Scarlet and Gray have to offer.

— Solomon Tuliaupupu (@nokeakua) April 13, 2017

Tuliaupupu is a four-star prospect and received 31 offers including some of the nations very best programs. When schools like Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford, UCLA, USC and many, many more are in pursuit, it says all you need to know about the Mater Dai (CA) standout and the third highest graded player at his position.

With all of that being said, the 247Sports Crystal Ball currently pegs the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder to stay in Cali and suit up for Clay Helton and the Trojans in Los Angeles. This visit is a big one if the Buckeyes want to stand any realistic chance in this race. Otherwise, it may be a situation much like ‘18 inside linebacker Palaie Gaoteote — a big-time Ohio State target who would instead choose USC.

Mitchell updates recruitment

Sticking to the linebacker position, it was just six days ago that ‘18 inside linebacker Teradja Mitchell was on campus for a visit with the Buckeyes. The visit shifted the thoughts for some on where he may end up, which originally widely favored Florida State.

On Thursday, Rivals.com’s Adam Friedman caught up with the five-star prospect to speak about that very visit to Ohio State and got the inside scoop on the recruitment for Mitchell.

The first time I went down to Ohio State I didn't really get a feel for it because it was a game and there were so many people," Mitchell said. "I didn't really get a chance to talk with many of the coaches. This time around I got to talk to the coaches, get a good feel for the program and saw what it was all about. I liked their approach towards me because they didn't just talk about football. They talked a lot about life after football. It's a great school and great public university not even considering the football part.

The Bishop Sullivan Catholic (VA) talent continued by telling Friedman that he spent time with Bill Davis, Urban Meyer and Zach Smith. He also was able to talk with cornerback Wayne Davis and defensive end Jalyn Holmes, who ultimately did what the Buckeyes hope Mitchell does -- leave the state of Virginia and come play for Ohio State.

Mitchell, the No. 2 inside linebacker in the class, relayed to Friedman that Ohio State is indeed in his top five along with Alabama, Clemson, Florida State and LSU. The 6-foot-2, 232-pounder also stated that he is hoping to commit in the next couple of months and that every school is tied for his services at this time.

Perhaps the biggest thing to take from the chat with Mitchell is that he is expecting to visit Florida State again next month. For now, Ohio State seems to be in the lead and it’s not surprising that Mitchell didn’t reveal that, but no matter the case, they have to outlast that visit to Tallahassee because the Seminoles seem to be the primary competition.

Quick Hits

  • According to Bill Greene of Scout.com, ‘18 offensive guard Fredrick Scruggs of Cathedral Prep (PA) has Ohio State and Penn State on top for now. The four-star prospect will likely not make a decision any time soon as he has future visits lined up.
  • ‘18 cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., who was an Ohio State target, did as was expected on Thursday when he committed to Florida State.
  • ‘17 wide receiver Elijah Gardiner, who signed with Ohio State in February, will make his way up to Columbus to check out the spring game on Saturday.
