Ohio State set to see 3-star RB Master Teague

Teague is set to make a camp visit to the Buckeyes on Friday.
Teague looks to impress Ohio State
Coming into Thursday, Ohio State holds the nation’s No. 2 ranked recruiting class; that’s just a notch behind Miami (FL) for the top spot. Within the Buckeyes’ class that features a dozen pledges is just one pure running back in four-star ‘18
Brian Snead of Armwood (FL).
Make no mistake, the program is hoping to add another pure runner to pair with the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder and the ideal candidate for Ohio State and every other university in the country is
Zamir White, the top running back in the class. In the meantime, while the pursuit for White continues, it’s safe for the Buckeyes to keep every stone unturned in case White, who is currently projected to land at Georgia, decides against playing collegiality in Columbus.
That’s where ‘18 RB
Master Teague (Murfreesboro, TN / Blackman) comes into the picture. According to
Andrew Lind of Eleven Warriors, Ohio State will have the chance to see Teague perform as he will take part in camp on Friday.
It will be interesting to see what develops here. For the time being, Teague does not hold an offer from the Buckeyes. With that being said, an impressive showing at the camp could change things. However, will it be of the committable variety? That’s the question. Ohio State is likely going to see what happens with White first — and that is entirely understandable. Now, where the problem comes into play is that Teague, who currently has a top three that consists of Auburn, Georgia, and Tennessee, told the
Daily News Journal in the middle of May that he planned on making a decision by early June.
How Stoops' departure affects Buckeyes
Bob Stoops stepped down from the head coach position at Oklahoma on Wednesday. Both the Sooners and Buckeyes were competing for some of the same recruits, but how much does the landscape change now that Stoops is out of the picture?
First we will speak on ‘18 safety
Josh Proctor, who committed to Ohio State over Oklahoma. It’s important to begin by saying there has been no indications whatsoever that Proctor was entertaining the idea of ultimately being a Sooner since he pledged to the Buckeyes back at the annual spring game. With that being said, Proctor is an Oklahoma kid. He currently plays at Owasso High School which is about two hours from Norman, Okla. Of course, it would be possible for something to change because anything is possible in recruiting. With that being said, with Stoops’ surprising bolt from the program, it certainly looks less likely -- more likely than it already did.
The other name that should come up when talking about Oklahoma is ‘18 safety
Jaiden Woodbey of St. John Bosco (CA). The Sooners were one of the finalists four Woodbey before announcing his pledge to Ohio State, so obviously he holds the program in high regards. Something that began to move the rumor mill as of late was when a few 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions had Woodbey flipping his pledge to Ohio State over to Oklahoma.
Now, like I said with Proctor, this does not mean Oklahoma will not still be in play here. Who knows, maybe Lincoln Riley will come in and make some major noise as the head man on the recruiting trail. All that we should assume from this news is that while it might not particularly help Ohio State’s chances of keeping Woodbey in the fold, I can’t see a scenario in which this hurts their chances of keeping him aboard.
