DT Adolphus "Diesel" Washington (Official Thread)

Buddy and me were texting about this yesterday.
I’m not sure what it does for keeping kids in the district. But as a coach (apparently he’s been around the building during offseason lifting for a few months) he’s winning over the kids who are staying.
I asked how he was at recruiting. lol.

Won’t lie, I am kinda surprised he didn’t look to get involved with what Tyler Williams is building at Taft where Dolph played in HS

The man wants to build his own empire.

2025 CA LB Madden Faraimo (Notre Dame Signee)

OSU, ND, USC and Oregon. Kind of quiet recruitment, but at one point we were in the lead (not sure about now). Hopefully JL and the other '25 recruits can work their magic here, Madden would be an incredible pickup. Really think he will be a star at the next level.

Who do you think was Ohio State's greatest QB?

So, while you can say that some other factor helped make a specific quarterback look better or worse than he actually was, in my opinion, it doesn't make the quarterback actually better.
Yeah, well, I never said a D makes a QB "better" and I'm still going with the QB that beats TTUN. People here seem to take issue with that, and it's kind of funny.

#2 Purdue at Ohio State, Sunday, February 18, 2024, 1 PM ET, CBS

Block was classic. Mahaffey sold out and leapt before Edey started his jump. If you notice, Edey wasn't completely extended, had he been Mahaffey wouldn't have had a chance. Edey does it the same every play, so Mahaffey (and Zed) showed their knowledge and great timing. PS, Zed also showed that 'senior savvy' can be better than young, unbridled talent (Okpara). PS, was very impressed with the freshmen on the floor. Guess it was my first good look at Austin Park, and believe the kid has a nice future ahead. The net-net was that it took all three (plus several) tOSU defenders to 'hold' Edey to 22 points. He looked like Kareem with his sky-hook going downwards. Great win for the Buckeyes.

OL Avery Henry (Official Thread)

AVERY HENRY PUSHING FORWARD, MOTIVATED TO INSPIRE OTHERS AFTER CANCER BATTLE ENDED OHIO STATE CAREER

145508_h.jpg

When Avery Henry was diagnosed with bone cancer in December 2022, he was told he might never be able to lift a bar again. Fourteen months later, the former Ohio State offensive lineman is able to bench press 315 pounds.

The same competitive drive that enabled Henry to earn a scholarship to play football at Ohio State continues to fuel him as he moves forward from the diagnosis that changed his life forever.

“When they told me I wasn't gonna be able to do it, I said, ‘No, I'm going to do it. You don't know who I am,’” Henry said. “I'm going to push myself to extremes. I'm gonna do whatever I can. If that means possibly playing football one day again, you better believe I'm gonna take the chance. So it pushes me to the extreme, with grades, with everything. I mean, I'm a straight-A student now. It's realizing that anything can go at any moment. Never wasting opportunities.”

Henry knew soon after he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma that he was unlikely to ever play football again. Henry had to have three inches of his ulna, one of the two bones in the forearm that connects the wrist to the elbow, removed in his right arm. Because part of his ulnar nerve was also removed, Henry lost feeling in part of his hand and is unable to fully move some of his fingers.

But while Henry has medically retired from football, he’s still working out regularly at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center – where he’s welcome to be a part of team activities any time he wants – with hopes of eventually getting back to doing the same lifts as Ohio State’s active offensive linemen.

“My doctor that did the reconstruction surgery, he's the one that really clears me. And when I talked to him, he was like ‘Avery, I think you can start pushing the limits on this.’ So I started pushing the limits,” Henry told Eleven Warriors. “He's one of the guys that told me I'd never be able to do these things again, and I benched 315 again when he told me I'd probably never be able to hold a bar in my hand again. So it's amazing when you put your mind to things.”

Henry’s cancer has been in remission since May, and he says he’s feeling great now. Henry’s hair has started to grow back after he underwent 10 months of chemotherapy, and he says he runs two miles a day while also eating smart as he looks to stay as healthy as possible.

Jeff Hafley (DC Green Bay Packers)

Jeff Hafley's insight into NFL allure offers insight into unconventional Boston College departure

"Everything has changed," Hafley said in his interview with Breneman. "You know, we were talking earlier, I was in the NFL, I was working for the [San Francisco 49ers], we were on the verge of — you know Kyle (Shanahan) was doing a great job out there. Suddenly I had a chance to leave and go be the coordinator at Ohio State. At the time a lot of people thought I was crazy, but I missed college football. I missed the relationships and the development of those young players. Getting a guy from his freshman year, getting to know him and really develop him. Get him his degree and then have that life-long relationship."

"So we decided to make the move. Had success, got the job here," Hafley continued. "And then as soon as I get [to Boston College], COVID hits. That made it harder. So I get to know the team on Zoom. And then NIL hits and the transfer portal hits. So it all really did change. I feel like every year something's coming. Even with the portal and NIL, I feel like this was the year where it was even, I mean, it was light year's different than even last year. The game has changed so much. ... If you had told me when I came back that we'd be paying players, that they could transfer essentially, not once now, but possibly twice, I would have said, 'Yeah right, there's no chance.' But it's real and it's crazy."

There's some irony here. Hafley stayed for just 1 year.
He's upset players can move like he does.
I don't think he's stayed 4 years at a job ... ever ?
