'23 CA CG Bronny James (USC commit)

Bronny James attracting wagers to be No. 1 pick in NBA draft

Bronny James is one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2024 NBA draft class -- likely because selecting him could increase the chances for a team to land his legendary father, LeBron James, in free agency. That name recognition is driving an astonishing number of wagers on the younger James in draft markets.

At FanDuel, James has attracted 30% of the tickets to be selected first overall by the Atlanta Hawks, the most for any player at the sportsbook. BetMGM reports that the USC guard has 36.8% of the bets, well ahead of Alex Sarr (-300), who has the second most at 14%. James was not initially listed in the No. 1 overall market at DraftKings but found himself in the field as of Thursday afternoon.

PG Mike Conley (1st Team All BIG, NBA All-Star, Oscar Winner, Minnesota Timberwolves)

SKULL SESSION: OHIO STATE IS NO. 2 IN ESPN’S POST-SPRING TOP 25 AND NIKOLA JOKIC CALLS MIKE CONLEY “THE MOST UNDERRATED PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE”

147237_h.jpg

“THE MOST UNDERRATED PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE.” After a one-and-done Ohio State career, Mike Conley became the No. 4 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, landing with the Memphis Grizzlies. Seventeen years later — including 12 years with the Grizzlies, two years with the Utah Jazz and three years with the Minnesota Timberwolves — Conley is still kickin’ it in the league.

According to three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, whose Denver Nuggets fell to Conley’s Timberwolves in seven games in the Western Conference semifinals, Conley is “the most underrated player in the NBA.”

Jokic’s claim came after Minnesota orchestrated the largest Game 7, second-half comeback in NBA playoff history on Sunday. Down 15 points at halftime, the Timberwolves clawed their way back, completing a 32-9 run that started in the third quarter and ended in the fourth. During that span, Conley collected three points, three rebounds and one assist. He ended the game with 10 points, eight boards, four helpers and two steals.

“I think they’re built to beat us,” Jokic said of the Timberwolves. “They have basically two All-Stars (Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns), two All-Defensive First Team players (Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert) and Mike Conley, who’s the most underrated player in the NBA probably. I love the guy. He’s so good. He always makes the right play.”

One of greatest plays in most one of most important games ever

Fun idea for the off-season. I'll play.
5 plays since the 2014 season.
#1 for me is easily 85 yards through the heart of the south. It didn't put Alabama away, but it certainly convinced me that Ohio State was going to win.
#2 is JT Barrett converting on 4th down against the cheaters in 2016. The post above says that Curtis Samuel's run on the next play was THE play, but Ohio State was scoring on that drive, regardless. Once Barrett converted on that play, it was just a matter of which play Ohio State would win on.
I'll say that #3 is the game-winner over Penn State in 2017 - Barrett to Baugh. Honorable mention to the defense for stopping Penn State to a field goal inside the 10 and then forcing a 3-and-out their next try.
And #4 is the game-winner over Penn State in 2018 - not Haskins to KJ Hill, but Chase Young tackling Miles Sanders. Why the hell did they take the ball out of McSorley's hands? Because McSorley's a chump.
#5 I'd have to say was the win over Clemson, but I don't know that there's a definitive play in that game. Maybe the bomb to Olave, like he mentioned. But I might go with the interception on the last play of the game. Barbie's last collegiate throw was intercepted. Nice.

OHIO STATE DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT, PASS-RUSH SPECIALIST BRANDON JORDAN NO LONGER WITH PROGRAM

One of Ohio State's defensive assistants has left the program.

An Ohio State football spokesperson confirmed to Eleven Warriors on Wednesday that Brandon Jordan, a defensive assistant and pass-rush specialist for the Buckeyes, is no longer with the program.
.
.
.
Following his departure from Ohio State, it is unclear where Jordan will land next. Six years after he started coaching in 2012, Jordan founded Brandon Jordan Trench Performance in 2018. Through his company, Jordan has worked with over 200 NFL players, including Cameron Heyward, T.J. Watt, Von Miller, Chandler Jones and Jadeveon Clowney, among others.

Ohio State will still have an assistant defensive line coach on staff to work alongside Larry Johnson in graduate assistant LaAllan Clark, who is entering his second year with the Buckeyes.
Saw that..... sounds like he was released. Wonder what happened.

B1G Championship Game, Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 @ 8 PM EST, CBS

No Penn State game has been grabbed by CBS just yet, although one will surely come at some point.
My 7th grade English teacher must be spinning in his grave. (I'm assuming he's dead.) I can see him now: "What does this have to do with the rest of the paragraph?"
It's a sad day when I have to virtually slap someone for poor writing skills.

Ohio State adds Presbyterian transfer wide receiver Shawn Lodge as preferred walk-on

Ohio State has added Presbyterian transfer wide receiver Shawn Lodge to its 2024 roster. The Akron, Ohio, native and St. Vincent St. Mary product announced his commitment to the Buckeyes Friday.

He will join the team as a preferred walk-on after spending the first two seasons of his career at Presbyterian College, an FCS school in Clinton, South Carolina.

Lodge appeared in all 11 of Presbyterian’s games last season at both wide receiver and kick/punt returner. In the process, he piled up 260 all-purpose yards. He caught nine passes for 120 yards, including a long of 28 yards at Butler last September.

The 6-foot wideout also made an impact as a returner. He ran back a team-high 13 punts, averaging 3.15 yards per return while ripping off a long of 39 yards against Virginia-Lynchburg in the home opener. Lodge ranked second on the team in kickoff returns with nine — he averaged just 11 yards per kick return and logged a long of 22 yards.
