Ohio State commit Doug Nester is headed to The Opening

We may be two months out from The Opening finals in Dallas, but it’s never too early to talk about the well known and highly scouted camp. When rolling out invitations, The Opening often announces a bunch of invitations at once, and that’s exactly what they did yesterday, as it was announced that one of the
Ohio State Buckeyes commitments, offensive lineman
Doug Nester, would be headed to Dallas.
Nester, ranked No. 55 nationally and ninth among offensive tackles, was the first recruit to commit to Ohio State’s 2019 class—making his announcement last August. He’s been on campus a whopping five times since his commitment, and isn’t leaving the class anytime soon.
Nester will likely be joined by a large contingent of Buckeye targets and commits at the event, as per usual, and will certainly do his part in recruiting for the class. Ohio State is looking for a full class of five offensive linemen in the 2019 cycle, and Nester will likely be looking for some fellows to join him in the class.
Thinking ahead?
The 2019 class may be in its early stages still, but that doesn’t mean Ohio State isn’t also looking at cementing the foundation of their 2020 class as well. We saw the first domino fall in that class on Monday, as Jake Wray, Max’s brother, announced his pledge to Ohio State. Wray isn’t the only top lineman the Buckeyes are interested in for 2020 though, as they extended an offer to Tennessee offensive tackle Chris Morris on Monday.
Morris is ranked No. 222 nationally and 28th among OTs for his class, according to 247sports, though those rankings will almost certainly jump between now and National Signing Day 2020. This is Morris’ 16th offer, many of which come from P5 schools, including Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas, among others.
At 6-foot-4, 270 pounds, Morris may project more as a guard at the next level, rather than as a tackle, and he certainly has the athleticism to pull it off. While this one is certainly a long way away from even being a true battle, Morris is pretty high on Ohio State’s board for 2020, and I imagine this will be a name Buckeye fans hear quite a bit for the better part of the next two years.

Hudson Card (Austin, TX / Lake Travis) announced that he picked up an offer from the Buckeyes. In the 2018 class, OSU snagged fellow Lake Travis alum Matthew Baldwin, who is also a quarterback. Right now, though, Texas seems to be the early favorite in the pursuit of Card.
