SF Jae'Sean Tate (2018 2nd team All B1G, Houston Rockets)

Jae'Sean Tate Signs One-Year, $3 Million Deal to Return to the Houston Rockets

Jae’Sean Tate has continued to make a name for himself in Houston.

And that will remain the case, as the 29-year-old has signed a one-year, $3 million deal to remain with the Rockets, the only team he has played for since coming to the NBA in 2020.

Tate fought through an injury-riddled 2024-25 campaign, averaging a career-low 11.3 minutes per game while dealing with a right ankle impingement, which caused him to only play in 52 games (two starts), including missing all of Houston's first-round playoff series against the Golden State Warriors. After starting in 135 games during his first two NBA seasons from 2020-22, Tate has played in just 148 games over the last three seasons since then.

G D'Angelo Russell (Unanimous 1st Team All-American, All-Star, Brooklyn Nets)

Sources: Mavs agree to $13M deal with PG D'Angelo Russell

Free agent point guard D'Angelo Russell has agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

The Mavs will use the $5.7 million taxpayer midlevel exception to sign Russell, a one-time All-Star who averaged 12.6 points and 5.1 assists per game for the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets last season.

The second season of the deal is a player option, sources said.

Russell is expected to fill Kyrie Irving's spot in the starting lineup while the nine-time All-Star recovers from a torn ACL. The Mavs and Irving are optimistic that he will be able to return early in the 2026 portion of the schedule, at which point Russell could transition to a key reserve role.

Now entering his 11th NBA season, Russell has already earned over $175 million in career salary. He’s approaching $200 million in total earnings—an impressive feat for the former Buckeye star.

Kevin McGuff (Head Coach The Ohio State Women's Basketball)

Hey, it's almost July. Does anyone know the outcome of McDuff's arrest? And what Bjork is/was going to do about it? Named Katie interim HC? Haven't seen anything much in recruiting, so wonder if he's still conducting practices/recruiting, all the stuff head coaches do at this time of the year. No statements in the Dispatch? (hey, don't even know if the Dispatch prints anymore)....thanks for the help....
Just sayin':

1. He plead "not guilty"to the operating a vehicle while impaired charge; maybe everyone is just waiting for the trial.

2. Based on the outcome of the lawsuit by a previous Ohio State men's basketball coach; I'm guessing that Ohio State is waiting for the outcome of the trial before taking any action. Basically O'Brien was fired "for cause" however, he was still awarded his contract money by the court since he was actually fired before the had NCAA formally ruled on his violations.

2026 AR OL Evan Goodwin (SMU Verbal)

SMU beautiful campus, lived nearby for several years. Actually went to more concerts there than football games, during the 'Pony Express' era. Dallas really nice town if you like glass and chrome. Women dress to the nines to go to grocery at 8:00am Saturday. Lots of good things to say about the place. Also bunches of well-heeled alums, who, yeah, can now do openly what they did covertly back in the day of 'Death Penalty'.

Seem to recollect that back in the day, D1 schools would stash players at a community college with ties to their university to get their academic ship in order. But that cost the recruit a year of eligibility, so they morphed to the prep school route in order to preserve that eligibility. Lost track of what's going on there, as big time schools not interested in wasting a schollie on someone who cannot cut it in the classroom. But there's always a university that without the academic requirements of, say a B10 school, that will grab that talent and put him in remedial classes (or somesuch bunny curriculum (curricului?). But yeah, he's gone.
