Illinois Fighting Illini (you'll see)

Re: Illinois #9, Illinois has its first top-10 ranking since it was No. 7 in December 2001.

Just sayin': Hey, give Fat Bert some credit here; he ran up the score in beating 2 garbage teams (W. ILL 52-3 and Duke 45-19) and has the Illini in the TOP TEN. He has a very favorable schedule, i.e. 3 cupcakes and only has to play 2 B1G teams that are currently ranked (Ohio State and Indiana). He could easily have another 10-3 year.

:gagnam:
And: The Buckeye's enter Champagne from the east and a big ol' howler comes across the prairies with 50 MPH winds, rain, and sleet from the west.

Been there when it's happened and it's no fun.

QB1 Julian Sayin (National Champion)

A: Julian Sayin

If you had concerns about Julian Sayin coming into the season, that would have been fair. If you still have concerns about Sayin after two games, I will have to vehemently disagree with you.

On Saturday, Sayin was 18-for-19 for 306 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. Yes, he threw one bad ball, but it was probably his first bad pass of the season, and he certainly didn’t repeat the mistake.

Yes, the schedule will get tougher, but he places the ball at an elite level, has great pocket awareness, great footwork, and throws his guys open. Hard not to love what we have seen so far. He would get an A+ if he didn’t throw the pick. Those are the rules.

WR Emeka Egbuka (All B1G, All-American, National Champion, Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

First, great start by Egbuka to his NFL career. Second, it is rare for a rookie to garner that much respect immediately from his veteran teammates. And good on Mike Evans for scooping up Egbuka's first TD ball and giving it back to Egbuka to keep.

WR Bryson Rodgers (National Champion)

I think its a bit too early as well.......was disappointed he didn't pull down an absolute dime from Sayin against Texas, but kid has shown flashes in the run game as a blocker and limited reps as a WR last year.

To add to that, Day has shown in the past he has the balls to play younger kids over more experienced players if they've earned it. So, I do think Iniss is earning this PT, and it's not like they're trying to be sensitive to him.

To the earlier point....we had Texas where the offense was extremely basic, and it's a bummer he dropped an explosive down the field. Grambling is basically a throw away game (no disrespect to them......many of our backups looked more explosive than the starters just based on flow of game). I'd make the argument if Iniss got backup WR reps against Grambling, we'd be talking about how explosive he looked....JMO.

People to Punch, Pet Peeves, and General Vexations (mega-merge)

A new pet peeve (as far as I know... I'm not going to read through 172 pages to see if anyone else brought it up): People in crowds.
I get that it's a lot of people, but you don't have to be assholes. We were at the game on Saturday, and in some areas, there's a bottle-neck. On one side, there's a concession stand that seems to be very popular, and on the other side they're selling something else. But people are crowding around, making a small lane to walk through. We're walking through single-file one way, and people are walking through single-file going the other way. Some dick-cock going the other way wanted to pass someone in front of him, so he walked right in front of the old guy in front of me. He must have been 200 years old. Either that or 55. Maybe 65. It makes him stop, which makes me stop, which makes all the nerds behind me stop. Then some other dick-cock behind me decided he had to pass all the stopped idiots, so he started pushing his way through. Settle down, pee-drinkers.

Or... after the game, we were walking through the tunnel between St John Arena and the ice rink. A couple of fatties (seriously, it wasn't a big stretch to suggest they might have been wider than they were tall) stopped just outside the tunnel to see what there was to see. You take up half the width of the walkway. Keep walking or move over.
