Bracketology and Selection Sunday Discussion

Bruce Pearl is anti-Miami (OH) at-large & Miami's AD took issue with some of his comments. I'm not sure Miami would be last in the Big East, but I don't necessarily disagree with the notion that this team would be bottom-tier in any given power conference.

2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

The game @ Ped State is really a crucial point for this program; they have to win and keep the momentum going. If they stumble and lose it's pretty much right back to where we were before the Purdue game.

Yeah, Ped State is the last place team in the B1G; if Ohio State can't beat them they probably do not even deserve an NCAA invite. Indiana may be a "must win" too. The Hoosiers are fighting for the NCAA invite too. They are at 17-12, 8-10 and I can't see both Ohio State and Indiana getting in. That game might just be an "elimination game" for both teams.
Ohio State finally earned a marquee victory on Sunday, knocking off No. 8 Purdue 82-74 for an unassailable Quad 1 win that could do wonders for the Buckeyes on Selection Sunday. Taking down the Boilermakers vaulted Ohio State from the First Four Out in CBS Sports Bracketology to a No. 10 seed as the first week of March gets underway.
Sunday was less kind to Indiana, which fell 77-64 to No. 13 Michigan State for its fourth straight loss. The Hoosiers began the day as one of the First Four Out, but woke up Monday firmly out of the field. It's IU's second four-game losing streak in Big Ten play, which has been one of the streakiest teams in college basketball under first-year coach Darian DeVries.
Indiana wasn't the only bubble team to crash over the weekend. In fact, the Hoosiers' Quad 1 loss against a quality opponent was respectable in comparison to the losses taken by Auburn and Cal. Both the Tigers and Bears suffered Quad 3 losses and are now among the First Four Out.

Fortunately, it is in Columbus. I'll say if they win the next 3 games (including one win in the B1G Tournament) they are definitely in.

Cleveland Browns (Factory of Sadness)

The Houston Texans have agreed to trade starting right tackle Tytus Howard to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round draft pick, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Howard will receive a three-year, $63 million extension from the Browns, his agent told Schefter.

... As a tackle, Howard ranked 52nd out of 68 qualifying tackles in pass block win rate and 49nd in run block win rate.

WTF.. $21M/yr for someone who ranks at the lowest tier
Wait.....wut??

This is insanity. OMG, the Texans must love when they get a call from Cleveland.

"How are we going to fleece them this time???"

So he can't run block OR pass block, but they're giving he 3 years and 60 million, doubtlessly all or majority guaranteed. Yeah, sounds like the Browns to me.

2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

Just sayin': Well, for starters Micah Parrish (Senior), Ques Glover (Senior), and Meechie Johnson (quit team) definitely won't be back. I'll also say Kalen Etzler (who has been here 4 years; but redshirted one) won't be back either.

Can Ohio State return the "core players", i.e. Bruce Thornton, Devin Royal, Evan Mahaffey, and John Mobley? I'll say that they also want to keep Ivan Njegovan, Colin White, Taison Chatman, and Austin Parks all who have potential to develop and be significant contributors.

Just the fact that they finished 2024/2025 2-5 and declined the Las Vegas tournament leads me to believe that there was some unhappiness/disenstion on the team. Does Bruce thornton go pro? Do any of the above transfer out?

The other big questions are:

1) What about Aaron Bradshaw and Sean Stewart. They were major disappointments considering the amount of NIL money they probably received, etc. I'm guessing that they just hit the transfer portial again this year.

2) Can Diebler get some impact players for 2025/2026 out of the portial?
