2025 tOSU Defense Discussion

During the game, they talked about offensive plays per game. I guess Ohio State tries to play as few plays as possible so they can last longer in the season. I was going to look into that, but found the results not as fun as I had hoped. But here's something interesting:

11/8 - Purdue - 44 offensive plays (Last in the country)
11/1 - Penn Stat - 64 plays (somewhere in the middle)
10/18 - Wisconsin - 49 plays (second to last)
10/11 - Illinois - 75 plays (somewhere in the middle)
10/4 - Minnesota - 52 plays (second to last)
9/27 - Washington - 59 plays (toward the top)
9/13 - Ohio - 59 plays (toward the top)
9/6 - Grambling - Website doesn't keep track of FCS.
8/30 - Texas - 68 plays (somewhere in the middle, but a lot of teams show 1 play or 4 plays that week, which is obviously wrong)

That's just under 59 plays per game on average (not counting Grambling), when the national average seems to be around 68 plays per game.
At 65 points all season, and 478 plays all season, that's 0.136 points per play.

What does that mean? I don't know. But Ohio State offense has 257 points (not counting Grambling), and has 506 plays. That's 0.508 points per play.
The mantra last year was, “Leave no doubt”, this year it’s “Efficiency“. I think it’s working.

Week 12 Game Discussion Thread

No joke this actually happened to a buddy of mine.
He’s a Tennessee fan and once he started having kids, his wife was on him to be a bit more present on Saturday throughout the fall, especially when they were little.

He’s a little bit on a nerdy side so he started investing into Warhammer 40k. Building maps and painting figurines in his basement.

Anyone who’s ever seen that stuff understands how expensive that shit can get really really fast.

His Adeptus Machanicus army died suffered a crushing defeat when faced against his wife.

The wife's war engine is undefeated

Or, like the rest of us, probably find a stupid new hobby that wastes even more time and money.

The wife will banish you back to college football.

Technology Gone Wild: Rise of the Machines

Sometime, somewhere, saw a video of a singer (very much a visual treat), singing with her real voice, and then after it had passed through a synthesizer (?). Took the sour notes away, and made this vision of delight sound like an angel, instead of a saw sawing wood. In my experience, mostly church, have heard wonderful voices emanate from nice people, but not the ones that sell a billion dollars worth of tickets to concerts. Tend to understand how this phenomena could work for an album, naturally, but not certain how would work live in concert. Maybe you younger concert-goers might clear the fog away for me/us.

"powerful moment" when a guy who's job is in danger does something to suck up to his boss.

I've seen hundreds of such powerful moments in my life. I never knew I was in the presence of so much powerfullness.

Nick Saban (ex-HC Alabama Crimson Tide)

Getting older is a bitch. It’s the short term memory that goes first. He’s right that sayin was on the team and might have been on the scout team but he’s confused on the details.
He’s been telling stories on the ‘cruttin trail many a long year. He knows where the value of a story lies, and it sure ain’t found in trifling details like facts or truth.

That’s very funny, but it’s not accurate. Sayin played his senior year of HS in 2023 and enrolled early at Bama in time for Rose Bowl practices. He transferred out in January after Saban quit (thanks, Nick!) but he wasn’t on their scout team until after the regular season.

QB1 Julian Sayin (All B1G, B1G Frosh of Year, All American, National Champion)

When Burrow throws for nearly 80%, there's no discussion. "OF course he's going to win it. No need to talk about the guy who threw for exactly 1 interception, at that point."
When Sayin throw for over 80%, there's no discussion. "He's throwing to skilled receivers and no one cares. Let's talk about Mendoza vs. Simpson."
