A Night That Began All Wrong​

The game began about as poorly…


I used to live about a block from the school on Academy Avenue. Every year we’d get a free pair of tickets for a scrub game to make up for idiot students ruining our lives with street parking and enthusiastic driving. That would’ve been a fun game to listen to from the front porch.

Listened to the last few minutes not realizing they had already tied it at 23. Elder went for a 38yd FG, Princeton blocked it and returned it for a TD (30-23). Elder gets the ball back with a minute to go, and first play is a 75 yd TD pass. Long snapper was hurt so they went for 2 and didn’t get it (30-29). Recovered an onside kick, drove to the 5 and got a FG (30-32). Still 12 seconds left, but the E kicker hit a line drive into the closest Princeton blocker and recovered it, game over.

Craziest game I can remember.
