2025 tOSU Offense Discussion

Don’t “run run pass” and put yourself in obvious or predictable passing downs where the Miami dline can tee off. And if you are in an obvious passing down where you need to throw, dial up plays where Sayin can get it out quick, and not just sideline to sideline screens, vertical quick hits, too.

Also, call plays to take advantage of Miami’s DEs playing undisciplined and getting too far up field. They’re like the antithesis of the Kenyatta Jackson conversation from this season (can I use pass moves more? just don’t go past the QB). The Miami DEs are past the QB on every snap, practically, if they’re not losing gap assignments with a spin or inside move… effective against a QB dropping back, not effective against a team taking advantage of you predictably doing that.

I didn't put it in the stats but iirc, the longest pass of any of that 500+ yards was 41.

Obviously those teams figured out how to carve Miami's secondary up with short passes.

I'm think OSU might just have the tools to do the same.

2025 Cotton Bowl: #2 tOSU vs #10 Miami-FL, Wed 12/31 7:30 ET at JerryWorld

On the Xs and Os standpoint. The same coverage that gave the offense fits against IU is something Miami has deployed at times throughout the year.

Like anything else, there's a certain anticipation and expectation to seeing this coverage. Hopefully Day and Co. have armed Julian with as much design and education as possible to combat the looks. Miami will run it until we show proficiency beating it.
