Ohio High School Basketball Discussion

Princeton demolished Hilliard Bradley 59-28 to bring the D1 title to Cincinnati for the first time in a while. OSU recruit Kam Mercer had a quiet game offensively, scoring 3 points, but his +/- was large. Amire Gill was on fire, scoring 24 points on 10-12 shooting - I've heard rumors he is going the prep school route. Rognny Santiago Lugo had a monster tournament, 12 points in the final, but had 28 in the semifinals over St. Eds. He is a PURE shooter, set to play college ball at Findlay next year. I don't know what his actual height is, but a bigger school might want to take a chance on Santiago - he fills a need for most teams.

2026 NCAA Tournament General Discussion

Yeah, it's remarkable how poor of a team Kentucky is with $22 million in NIL. Someone there doesn't know how to build or coach a team.

Karma seems to never totally hit scUM, their football program probably fell up with their head coaching hire after the Sherrone crash out and now of course the hoops team is getting every gift possible for the easiest road to the final 4.

2026-27 Ohio State Men's Basketball

No one thinks Noel is going to get another year. Both G and C they have major needs. I think they do have flexibility to put Mobley at the 1 as long as they get a guard who can pair well with him by being strong in the areas Mobley isn't particularly strong (defense, size, length, strength, ability to get to the foul line). Ideally they get a tough, athletic, strong big man who can pass the ball and can hit the 3, although Ojianwuna may be able to do most of those things.

The problem with Ojianwuna is that it's still has to be seen if he can truly bounce back from his injury. You can't fully rely on that happening.

2026 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, Arrogant Twatwaffles, Emasculated Cucks, Feckless Marmots, Dirty Cheaters "Mid"chigan

Went to a hockey game tonight. We generally go to 20-25 games a year and I always wear a Preds jersey and a tOSU hat. There are some guys we've sat close to for a few years who occasionally hassle me about my hat. But we're talking to each other a lot so its all good natured. We know each other (remember, I'm in the middle of S-E-C country).

Tonight there was some jackass a few seats over who hollered over at me, "Did somebody pay you to wear that hat?" Understand, this was someone not in the group of people we normally interact with and someone I've never seen before. I initially ignored him. He then hollered the same question.

Jackass: Did somebody pay you to wear that hat?
Me: No, I'm proud of my alma mater.
Jackass: Go Blue
Me: You mean go cheaters?
Jackass: O-H-N-O
Me: C-H-E-A-T-E-R-S
Me: You need to read the history of your great Fielding Yost and find out why you were thrown out of the conference. You've always cheated.
Jackass: (Crickets)

Why would you harass a total stranger in a public setting for just wearing a hat? (I know. Rhetorical question.)
Because they're all freaking scum. I would've gotten in trouble most likely.

2026 tOSU Offense Discussion

Disagree. Anybody can draw up fancy plays on the chalkboard. But you have to call plays that suit your personnel. Yeah, the o line wasn't great but it's not like they were non-functional. They weren't the only team in the country that had to work around some o line issues. Going into the Miami game against that d-line depending on long-developing deep shots was dumb
Disagree.

Miami's entire defensive philosophy in that game was to take away the short and intermediate stuff that Sayin excelled at. The screen that returned for a Pick-6 fit into what they were trying to do. Short of Sayin turning into a bit more of a runner, taking the top off the defense early on was the right idea in my IMO.

Given the run game issues that were apparent all year long, the only thing that prevented Ohio State from running away with that game was Miami's defensive line breaking down the pass protection as illustrated in the videos above.

The plays were there. If the execution matched the scheme Ohio State rolls. Once Ohio State got behind they had to throw it a ton more than I think they truly wanted to as part of the overall scheme.

If you really want to criticize something from that game, the tempo has to be much faster. Miami's depth should have been tested more than it was.

Either way, I think we both agree the offensive line has to take a step forward this year for this team to be a success. Living on last year's laurels will get them not where they need to be.

SG Mark "The Shark" Titus (Official Thread)

His point makes no sense. Yes, Ohio State fans care more about football. Duh. But Ohio State fans aren't asking for and don't expect the basketball program to be Duke or Kansas. They just think it's ridiculous for the program to be like the 8th best team in the conference, which it is currently
Titus goes overboard on the critique, and it's silly to be mad at the fans. Yeah, there are a lot of idiot fans, but everyone has idiot fans online. You have to remember with social media/Barstool, their job is to get attention. That being said, I think it's completely legitimate to question the support Diebler has gotten from the university and with NIL. I am a believer that OSU has not had the right approach to the transfer portal in men's basketball and it has really hurt the team the last two years at least & it's been a combination of scouting/evaluation misses and not having funds to land the best transfers. Hopefully the planned addition of a GM can make a difference, but obviously they need a new approach to the transfer portal.
