WR Coach Cortez Hankton (Official Thread)

No....his craziness isn't why he should be completely disregarded 100% of the time.

This is.
I don't know that to be true. Where he goes wrong is his hot takes. He say's things like a drunk guy watching MNF at the local bar at 10 pm. However, his takes on a subject become more measured with time.

He is more often than not correct.

It doesn't really matter. I only brought it up, because on paper the hire looks fantastic. A former WR coach at LSU and UGA is certainly exciting again on paper. But there may be something to keep in mind down the road, if there are in fact recruiting misses or the WR doesn't look as developed.

I hope Hankton is a home run hire. He has to be. Important room in Day's offense.

2026 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I must admit that I'm tired of seeing FG kickers hitting 50+ yard FGs while we struggle sometimes with hitting 35 yd shots. This has to change.
I mean a lot of those kickers miss some short ones too. It's just they feel that over 45 yards is makeable while we're like I don't know I'd do that.

2025 Cotton Bowl: #2 tOSU vs #10 Miami-FL, Wed 12/31 7:30 ET at JerryWorld

I looked up who OSU's special teams coach was this season because it's unbelievable we don't have one. Only saw Parker Fleming bio's and articles. Maybe you all know already, but he's going to UK with Will Stein for next season.

Kicking myself for not getting into football coaching, given the earning potential in the sport, regardless of the fact that I know nothing about playing the sport.

The kicker obviously won't be reliable, if there's no one there to show him the fine details, and whatever st coaches do.
make 100k to blow hair horns at the kicker in practice?

2025 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

All other football divisions play the following week after the conclusion of the regular season. D1 needs to do the same. It’s stupid to have long layoffs. Hell, look how rusty NFL players get when they don’t play the last couple games before the playoffs(once they win their division). I hope to hell Indiana beats Bama. I sure as hell don’t want an all SEC championship game. I’m not sold on Oregon. As shitty as we played at times last night, we kill tech by 28. Almost wish the committee would’ve dropped us to 4th when we lost to Indiana. Miami doesn’t look like the 10th best team. More like 5th or 6th (even though they beat us).
Someone in Indiana didn’t get the memo.

WR Coach Cortez Hankton (Official Thread)

Anybody who ever brings up Zach Smith always posts it with a caveat. You'd think that would be enough of a big red flag, and yet....
Because he is without a doubt loose cannon. I enjoy the podcast. He was a actual wr coach under Urban. Even though he is crazy, doesn't mean his takes are wrong.

He say's things to get people going. He is controversial. So yes, there will be caveats in place because he is polarizing.

I don't send him money through the chat or really anything other than listen. I listen because he is crazy and entertaining. Kris Drew is hilarious as well.

I feel like some of his takes have merit. Now on the other hand, there is NevedaBuck who has zero credibility.

OL Coach Tyler Bowen (Official Thread)

This was also an OL replacing 2 1st round picks and the Rimington award winner. IU and Cryami have aggressive, nasty front 7's too. Let's not overreact to the last 2 games
Miami definitely has a talented D Line. Bain being the most talented, obviously. It didn't look like he needed to be prime OSU Chase Young out there. He was just going in a straight line at the QB, and we just let him do it. I KNOW he's good, I just didn't see it last night.....the same way I wouldn't see how great LeBron is against a bunch of 6th graders.

Impending Assistant Coach Vacancies

No more retreads. It rarely works out. Fresh blood or else.
Patricia could be considered a bit of a retread in some ways.

I'd be ok with Wilson - he has a strong enough personality and a definite system that would be able to keep Coach Day in more of an executive role.

No matter who gets the job, whoever it is has to have established credibility to be able to run the show on his own. Kelly had it. Hartline did not fully have that 'it' yet. Tom Herman had it while he was at Ohio State, especially after JT got hurt against TCUN, Tim Beck did not as we saw the following year.

WR Coach Cortez Hankton (Official Thread)

Listened to Menace. Smith doesn't like the hire. Say's Hankton is not a good recruiter, but for a few guys. At each UGA and LSU the receivers regressed.

I know... I know Zach Smith, but he does know ball, and the different coaches out there.
