WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (All B1G, All American, Rose Bowl MVP, Pro Bowl, All Pro, NFL OPOY, Super Bowl Champion, Seattle Seahawks)

Highest paid WR. I believe that is a good thing;-)

Ravi Bellamkonda, tOSU President

Well, he certainly exhibited how to turn a tryst into moneytization. PS, on another note, wonder how the new Prez will react to the money spent by the Athletic Department. Even though it's a 'profit/cost center', and self-sustaining, he's an academic at heart, so wonder if he'll try to snake some more into education.....PSS, used to be that the Athletic department would 'give' $20-30 million a year to the academic side of the house. Does anyone know whether that still happens, or no.

Jake Diebler (Head Coach)

Read a report (fake news?) that negotiations between Bjork and Diebs were going on, with the outcome determining whether new coach or not. My mind immediately said, 'not about salary', but about NIL money for the team. (Maybe more for assistants?) I guess in today's college world, it's apparent that one must 'put one's money where one's mouth is'. You cannot just mouth the words, 'we want our basketball team to equal our football team', or somesuch, gotta put some dollars behind it. Something we all see and know. tOSU funds, what, 36 collegiate sports, and only 3-4 are revenue generators, yet we take pride in the diversity. Kinda an obvious question, but wouldn't one want to stimulate those three-four revenue generators to make even more money? Anyway, some mental masturbation for a Monday morning.

2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

Seem to recollect, every high school kid that got 'recognized' was a big scorer. Hardly ever (?) does a kid make 'Mr. Ohio Basketball' as a defender or assist maker. Gotta be a scorer. Recognize that at the collegiate level, players have 'roles', scorers score, tall people rebound and swat shots, etc. Anyone else watching the NCAA's and seeing the ball get passed around the court, and players take turns popping 3's? Maybe our guys don't move enough to 'get open' to be able to pop? Cupp was a Mr. Basketball, no? He is an excellent defender, and can dribble rings around you. He sometimes hits the three. Coincidence, dunno. At this level, everyone can shoot the ball. Else they play intra-mural basketball - like me.

2026 NCAA Tournament General Discussion

According to the trends........Arizona, Duke, or Michigan is going to win it all.

Since 2002, a team that finished in top 3 of KenPom has won it all except for 3 occasions.

2003 - Syracuse who had the best player in the country at the time, Carmelo Anthony
2011 - UConn who had the best/hottest player in the country at the time, Kemba Walker.
2014 - UConn......still have no clue how they won it that year. That was a weird year.

skiing thread

Right? I’ve done this on water and it’s a blast. To be clear, I was happy to just stay up on the water, I was not getting 30 feet of air like these guys. But, I have the kites and snowboard… I’ve just not had the space to do it on the snow yet. One day... Candidly, I’m more into the idea of kite-buggies than snowkiting. I’m not much for cold weather sports.

Here’s a really good (read: it’s real, not overproduced influencer crap) video of a kit buggy. It looks so much fun, but I don’t know where I’d ever find a beach / field or whatever like that.

This just makes me want to go get out my kites.

This is another fun video. This guy pretty much flys down the ski hill on a Flysurfer Peak 5 6-meter kite. FWIW: This is my primary kite model. I have it in a 2.5, 4 and 8 meter for different wind conditions for when I want to fly with a bar but I have a couple of small / medium Peter Lynn kites that are 4-line handles for stunting.
