While it may have been technically correct, I don't think any of us needed the Sugar Bowl to include a final second that felt like half an hour. To recap:
  • Ole Miss kicked the game-winning field goal with 6 seconds left on the clock.
  • The Rebels kicked off, which ended with an attempted lateral by Georgia hitting the end zone pylon for a safety
  • The officials ruled there was 1 second on the clock when that happened, forcing Georgia to attempt a free kick following the safety
  • Georgia recovered an onside kick.
  • Because Ole Miss never touched the ball on the free kick, the clock never ran. A second remained on the clock.
  • This gave Georgia one more offensive play down 39-34.
  • Instead of attempting a Hail Mary, the Bulldogs opted for a short pass and about 800 laterals before Ole Miss got the stop.
Again, most of this is not the fault of the refs in a technical sense, but I think we all would have been better off if none of it ever happened.

There never should have been an onside kick.

The clock only ran 3 seconds for a 47-yard FG, and then the clock started late on the kickoff return. Those two plays took about 10 seconds, rather than the 8 that ran off the clock.

My daughter started following hockey a few years ago. Her mom and her family are from the Pittsburgh area. She's a Pens fan to their enormous delight. Fair trade for letting me raise a lunatic fringe member without interference.

Taking her to her first game Sunday against the CBJ. She is over the moon.

Just sayin': I don't think that pick six is 100% on Julian Sayin, stop the video at the 2 second mark. Keionte Scott runs right by both Jeremiah Smith and Max Klaire to intercept the pass. I'll bet the play was drawn up for (and Sayin' expected) one of those 2 to block Scott; and if that happened it looked like Brandon Inniss was in for a long gain. Yeah, I know there were a few other individual plays where a missed assignment and/or a player's failure to execute significantly affected the outcome of the game too.

It's a testament to their approach and culture that this is the one of (if not the) first true portal losses, and at that, probably one they weren't willing to back down on.

Even for schools with deep war chests, there's only so much you can keep upping the ante, particularly for backups who might become starters but have not proven that yet.

No you don’t, especially when neither garnered a ton of PT last year and it was said that their consistency was a constant issue.

I think the staff may have told them that they were looking at transfers at CB and he and West wouldn’t guaranteed starters by the staff. No longer can guys think they wait their turn and are automatic starters. Those days are gone

I think OSU has been in the club. They’ll pay guys competitively based on how much they play and how they’ve excelled. But they won’t be strong armed. We’ve hardly seen any starters leave, the guys leaving are mainly in year 3 or later and haven’t really contributed.
