Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

This franchise just can't have nice things. You'd think that sweep of Tampa who tied the most wins record woulda been a turning point but....nope.

They are up 3-1 now but they could win out and still have a high chance of missing the playoffs. Bet that 3rd period meltdown against Boston ends up being the difference in the end.

Philly needs to lose but they are winning 3-1 against the Jets in the 2nd period of their game
People trash Torts but that upset was 100% of his making. That team certainly overachieved given it's overall talent as it was, and there was not way Panarin and Bob were going to come back unless they won the cup that year, which is exactly what happened. Jarmo stripped the minor leagues to bolster that team, which led them, eventually, to franchise siberia in 2021-2024...

I said almost two weeks ago they'll miss by a point. That's looking pretty good right now.

They need to re-sign Marchment (UFA), resign Fantilli (RFA), sign at least 1 or 2 top-6 forwards and take a run at getting Werenski on a long term contract.

Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

The worst lead in the NHL is going up 2-0 early.

The number of blown multi-goal leads by this team is ridiculous. The talent is absolutely there to win, they just are missing something to finish games off.

Look Who's Transferring Now (The Basketball Portal)

The problem is somebody desperate will give it to them until these NIL collectives start refusing to overpay for players who don't deserve it this isn't stopping and who knows if that would ever happen
There's definitely an element of desperation to the transfer portal. A lot of these coaches are losing half or more of their roster at the end of the season. Many of those players are lost (with varying levels of expectation by the coaches) to the portal. The fact that top high school recruits are generally already signed means the only real option for coaches needing to refill their roster is the portal, and with the season is coming in 7 months they have to do what it takes to sign transfers in order to keep their jobs. The coaches don't want to be fired, so while they want to allocate their NIL wisely, they will overpay if that's what it takes to have the talent they need in order to stay employed.
