PGA Tour (Official Thread)

For those that play, a cough, laugh, sudden noise can disrupt a swing - badly. Doesn't matter how focused one is, even putting a club back in the bag noisily, can cause problems. Was following a Buckeye player at Pebble, and got a glare when I moved, (was greenside with the hole between he and me), during his putting stroke. Golf is not like football/baseball/basketball, where fans have the right (?) to yell and scream at the players. Do this at the Masters, and you'll be escorted off the course. Fan is short for fanatic, and some of us knuckleheads believe that paying dollars for admission believe that gives us right to vent our opinions (loudly, and often crudely) about a player or a play. The key to Script's post is "after the ball is hit", certainly not during. So, I don't complain about Rory yelling 'shut up' to a 'fan', and applaud him for not adding an epithet to his comment. He'd probably get fined for doing so.

Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Certainly not as learned as most, but would seem to be easier to go up a level, than go down a weight class. Even in a weight class, this is the time of life when a body grows, gains size/weight etc naturally. Certainly as one does weight training, pounds are added, and if memory serves, adding a pound of muscle requires losing, what, eight pounds of fat? Am sure others have better numbs, but can only lose so many pounds of fat, no?

Professional Tennis (official thread)

Billie Jean King graduates 65 years after starting at Cal State LA

Billie Jean King raised her right arm in triumph. Not for another victory on the tennis court. This time, she was celebrating earning a college degree 65 years after she first took classes.

The 82-year-old sports and equality icon received her bachelor's in history from Cal State Los Angeles on Monday, walking across the stage in hot pink glasses and royal blue sneakers at the Shrine Auditorium with about 6,000 others in the Class of 2026.

"It's never too late, whatever age you are, whatever your abilities are, go for it if you want it," she said afterward.

King's black gown was accented with a gold graduation stole personalized by a friend. One side included her initials and the letters G.O.A.T., referring to greatest of all time. A multicolored tennis racket was embroidered on the other side.

2027 CA QB Brady Edmunds is a Buckeye!!!

It seems Edmunds is still saying the right things. Could be a ploy for more $, dunno. But from my experience in life, if there's smoke, then there's fire. Totally get the kid protecting himself from 'the talk'. We read about the recruit signing with someone else late in the game, but not as much about the school telling the kid there's no room in the inn for him when it's too late to find another place. Writers talk about the glitz and glamor of recruiting, but there's an ugly underside as well.

Texas Tech Red Raiders (sponsored by BET365)

This guy should never play football again let alone this next season. Betting thousands of times and on his own team? That’s ridiculous.

But we all know the NCAA isn’t going to do what’s right.
NCAA is trying to do what's right. TT and their booster are the ones taking it to court.

People to Punch, Pet Peeves, and General Vexations (mega-merge)

that requires an explanation... please tell me it involves what would clearly be an OHSA violation?
No violation, just maybe don't twist/dislocate your ankle requiring 4 surgeries and an erector set cage to be screwed into your leg and foot. It doesn't feel good.
On the plus side, 3 surgeries down, and I get to go home for a while today.
