This is the second younger brother of an Ohio State legend to earn an offer from Ryan Day.

Jeremiah Smith has already cemented himself in Ohio State history following his iconic, championship-winning freshman season. However, his legacy could extend even beyond his time in Columbus. That’s because on Tuesday, the final day of the Buckeyes’ summer camp season, Jeremiah’s younger brother Angelo Smith earned an offer to play for OSU.

Angelo will be a junior at Chaminade-Madonna High School this fall. He plays safety in high school, although some of the recruiting services list him as an athlete. Angelo is a bit undersized at 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds, but with two years of high school remaining, he still has plenty of time to grow.

The younger Smith is currently rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 29 safety in the 2027 recruiting class according to 247Sports and is the No. 32 player from the state of Florida.

Angelo Smith is a two-time Florida 1A state champion and in the 2024 season, recorded 40 tackles, 11 pass break-ups, and had three interceptions according to Max Preps. This is the second-straight summer that Angelo has camped in Columbus.

Last year, he mainly worked out at wide receiver, but following a season in which he played safety, he decided to move from Brian Hartline’s group to the defensive back groups coached by Tim Walton and Matt Guerrieri.

The younger Smith was joined by both prep and club teammates at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Tuesday. His high school teammate, 2028 wide receiver Peter Pierre was also on hand, as were Smith’s South Florida Elite teammates quarterback Neimann Lawrence and wide receiver Eric McFarland, both of whom are also in the 2028 cycle.

Before arriving in Columbus, Angelo Smith had offers from Akron, Georgia State, Miami, Oklahoma State, and Toledo; obviously none of those programs are on the same level as OSU, so the excitement Angelo displayed in his social media postings about the offer ar more than justified.

Whether or not Angelo ends up playing for the Buckeyes or not remains to be seen, but it is likely contingent on him growing into his athleticism. That way, if he does end up rivaling his brother’s 6-foot-3 frame, Ohio State can say that they believed in him before anyone else did. And if he remains a bit too small to play for the Buckeyes, Angelo can say he holds an OSU offer, which can only help raise his profile amongst other schools.

Of note, the Buckeyes have also offered Jett Harrison the 2028 wide receiver who just so happens to be the younger brother of former OSU grat Marvin Harrison Jr. So there is now a legitimate chance that we could see the brothers of two of the freakiest athletes in program history lining up against each other for a spring game in 33 months!

Unfortunately, since there is nearly zero chance that Jeremiah comes back for a fourth year, we likely won’t be seeing the Brothers Smith locking up in the Scarlet and Gray. So I guess we’ll have to wait for the NFL for that to happen.

NCAA Football: CFP National Championship-Ohio State Practice

You ask, we answer. Sometimes we ask, others answer. And then other times, we ask, we answer.

Throughout the year, we will be asking and answering questions about various
Ohio State teams, the players, and anything else on our collective minds of varying degrees of importance. If you have a question that you would like to ask, you can tweet us @LandGrant33 or if you need more than 280 characters, send an email HERE.

Not to go all “Lunatic Fringe” on you, but this week, we are wading into our Biggest Concerns for the upcoming Ohio State season. So, in our weekly fan survey, we asked Buckeye Nation to share their worries around position groups and games.

Get the rundown of both questions below, and then vote in the survey underneath. And, if the option you want to pick isn’t mentioned in the survey, feel free to head down to the comments and write it in.

Question 1: Which position group are you most concerned about heading into the season?

Normally when you talk about the biggest concerns surrounding a football team, your mind immediately turns to the negative, but I don’t think that is the case this offseason. Because of how many veterans left the program for the NFL following the national championship, there is an unusually high number of unknowns heading into fall camp.

Therefore, while it wouldn’t normally make a lot of sense, I think that there is ample amounts of optimism to go along with every ounce of concern connected to the team this year. So, while yes, there is more optimism around some position groups than others, I personally don’t feel any existential dread about any position room; it’s mostly just curiosity and anticipation to see what the guys we’ve only seen in spurts and flashes can do with extended playing time and responsibilities.

Question 2: Which game are you most concerned about heading into the season?

With all due respect to Ohio and Grambling, no one who would vote for those two options is either human or participating in good faith, so I eliminated them from the survey. That means that there are 10 games that you can select as the one giving you the most agita in mid-June.

Obviously, the most obvious candidates are Texas, Penn State, and Michigan, but some sneaky concerning games might be the matchups against Illinois and Rutgers. Bert has the Illini playing as well as they have in a long time, and Greg Schiano’s squad will always be well-prepared, so when you throw it in the week before The Game, there is the potential for wonkiness to happen.
